Language change
Hello everyone! I have an issue with the language of my game. The problem is that I purchased The Sims 4 Base game 7 years ago in Russia and my game always has been in that language. But for la...
@AlexandraSverige You have a couple of options here. One is to buy a physical copy of Sims 4 in Sweden or from a retailer in a region that receives the global version. You could also buy a product key online from a retailer that offers the global version, but be careful about third-party sites that may not offer a valid product. You could then register the key in Origin and have the global version of Sims 4.
I believe you might need to first contact EA customer support to remove the current version of the base game from your account, or else that version might override the new one and leave you stuck playing in Russian. But I have no way to test this.
The other option is to buy another copy of the base game through Steam. You could install the game through Steam and then download your Origin-owned packs: this is exactly how the Origin-Steam tie-in is supposed to work. The downside is that you'd need to run both Origin and Steam while you played. But this does work, according to another player in the same situation as you, since Steam would let you choose any supported language. And if it doesn't work, you can always get a refund from Steam provided you ask soon enough.
In any of these scenarios, your packs would remain on your account and work fine in whatever language you chose—the pack languages follow the base game.
Thank you very much.
Yeah, I believe it could work, may try steam as well, but should hopefully get some help with it from EA support before to try with Origin.
I hope it is possible to rewrite new Swedish version of a game instead of Russian base game. And it seems I can directly buy it at Origin. The only problem is how to install it correctly for Swedish one to work, and not old purchase.
@AlexandraSverige Normally, to switch Sims 4's language, you just pick a new language in Origin and then repair, that is if the repair doesn't start automatically. At worst, you'd need to uninstall the game and reinstall in Swedish. Your saves and other content should work fine in any language.
I wish it was that simple. But unfortunately some regions are language blocked. For example, in England you may get only English language. And in all East Europe there are just three options: Russian, Czech and Polish. So game offers me to change only to those two. Not really my goal.
