Legacy save file keeps crashing no matter what I do! Help!

I have a legacy save, my only save file since I first got Sims 4. I can't express how much I've put into it, from the houses, the families. It's what keeps me playing the game. Since the Home Chef Update, my game started crashing with a certain family. I'd be able to play it for a bit, then it'd crash. Then that happened with another family. Then the game started crashing as soon as I tried to open the save file. I removed the mods and the CC, testing each batch to try and find what the problem was. But the game still crashed even without anything in the mods folder. Originally, the game worked if I turned CC and script mods off. Now, it doesn't even do that. So it can't be a mod/CC issue? I have no idea what's happened. I tested making another save file with no CC or mods and it works. I've also tested it with the same new save file with CC and mods and it works.

I really need my original save file to work. I've put over 6000 hours into that file. Can someone help me work out what the problem is?  This site won't let me attach the last crash file or copy it in either! I don't know what to do!

I hate to be the one to have to tell you this, but from what you said, it sure sounds like your save is corrupt.  Depending on how many times you've saved, you might be able to recover an earlier version from before the crashing started.  If you have saved more than 5 times since it started, you'll be out of luck but if you've saved less, you should be able to recover, at least enough to save most of the lots and sims to your Library.  If you have saved more than 5 times and all the save versions have the crashing problem, then hopefully you have a backup somewhere that you can use to either play on or recover from.

To try a recovery, use the Main Menu Load option and open the Load Menu.  Just to the left of the Play and Delete buttons, you will find the Recover Save button.  Just press that and it will open a panel listing all the recovery choices.  I suggest you pick the last one as that will be the oldest.  But you can try with any listed there.  Then follow the prompts.  Once done, open the recovered save and see if that works.  If not, then repeat until you've gone through all the choices.  Hopefully one will work for you but as I said earlier, if you go through all the choices and none work then hopefully, you've got a backup somewhere.

    Hope this helps.
