Map covered in X’s

Every time I try to load up a safe file, it brings me to pick a world, and all of my lots are covered in these giant x’s.

  • It's looks like you have a mod installed to change the map screen, so it's probably that. you should try contacting the mod creator, or seeing if any other mods you have are conflicting. Or just disable that mod or all mods.

  • @shelbi32 Test with no mods or CC: Exit Sims 4 then move (not copy) your Mods folder to your desktop or rename it. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you think you might accidentally forget to exit without saving after testing, copy your Saves folder to your desktop too, to back it up. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, you can start the process of figuring out what from your Mods folder was causing it. You can start that at Broken/Updated Mods & CC

    @shelbi32 Try this, please:

    1. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
    2. Run a Game Repair
    3. Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options.
    4. Start with New to test if your issue recurs in a new game. NOTE: If New isn't the only option, then you've got folder problems, and that could be why the previous test failed! Please let me know.

    If that works, start putting old content back:

    1. Exit and copy files out of your old Saves folder into the new Saves folder. Important: Don't just copy the old folder! You want to use the newly created folders.
    2. Launch Sims 4 and use Load to select an older save to test.
