I know this was a while ago but I figured Id leave this here for anyone else looking for answers! This just happened to me a couple of minutes ago and I was able to save my progress and exit the game by pressing alt + F4 so it's not impossible to get out of 🙂 a little better that BSOD haha
Just found this and it literally saved my butt, and game! Alt F4 is a lifesaver.
