mermaids can't have skin details or genetics traits passed down. tldr weird bugs

hi, i apologize if there's already a thread open for this topic i'm missing, but personally in my files i've noticed this bug for close to a year now i'd say. i have tried things out both with and without mods, multiple CAS settings on 2 different laptops, new saves, you name it. and all cases provided the same results. if one or both parents of a baby sim are a mermaid, then when the kids age up to teen it becomes excruciatingly obvious there's something getting lost there in the game's coding surrounding mermaids. in the past i know that hybrid sim babies between any occults are known to be unstable, but i've never seen it cause issues even with one sim parent being human for example.

i also cannot use base game OR cc skin details, tattoos, scars, etc on mermaids. which takes a lot of joy out of playing with them at all and that makes me sad because they're one of my favorites of all the sims games. :'// 

if anyone knows of a fix/etc please let me know, this seems like a quality of life patch update that needs to happen but i'm holding out hope someone's found a solution by now.

there's also a horrendously disturbing and funny bug, if a mermaid is cured and returns to being a human sim, their legs still do the tail animation and flop over the side of the bathtub.

i have no idea if these are all connected somehow, but if anyone can help me it would be seriously appreciated.
