Mixologist/Bartender not working

Ok I have seen a couple posts about this but no solid solutions so I thought I'd ask again. This is an issue that I've noticed more recently but has probably been happening on and off for years now (before I had any cc or mods). Whenever my sims have a party, or they're at a different lot, home lot, or even on vacation lot with a bar, they hire a mixologist. The mixologist will show up, but will walk around or talk to people and will NOT get behind the bar. I've tried to talk to them, tried to send them home and hire a new one, and even canceled/restarted some parties to see if it would work if I tried again. I've updated my games and disabled cc/mods to try it and it still won't work. Thoughts?
