Mod newbie in search of some guidance!

Hey everyone! So I have never used mods or CC in any of my Sims games (and I've been playing for decades), mostly because I've always had lower end computers and I didn't want my game lagging any more...

Yeah, MCC and UI Cheats are two of the like, 4 mods I use. I personally couldn't play without them!

My sims can’t cook
Whenever my sim press to cook nothing pops up not even the recipes , this is even for cookbooks nothing pops up . I’ve tried using different fridges but nothing works

Updated my game and now it wont load the family
I can get into my sims game fine but after i updated my game it will load once i press to play a family and then goes back to the maps and never loads for me to actually play.
