[MOD RELATED] Sims ‘stuck’ at work/school, performance bar not moving

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.80.69.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get Famous, Island Living, Get to Work, Discover University, Dream Home Decorator, Cats & Dogs, Seasons, City Living, Spa Day, Parenthood, Kids Room, Tiny Living
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have Sim join a career where they can go to work and you don’t join them (i.e. not any of the Get To Work careers or Interior Decorators) or send a Sim to school. Once Sim is at work/school, try to change their working mode to anything other than ‘Work Normally’.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sim cannot be changed from ‘Work Normally’ working mode, progress bar under Career tab doesn’t move at all and is stuck under ‘Average’. Cannot leave work early. When Sim returns from work, their icon is still greyed out as if still at work. They can only be properly returned by going to Manage Worlds and back into household, but this doesn’t fix the issue with the performance bar being stuck.
What do you expect to see? Sim can be changed to ‘Work Hard’ or other working options, performance bar under Career tab moves in accordance with working mode. Sim can be made to leave work early. Sim returns home and icon is not greyed out.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Hello - as outlined above, any Sim I try to send to work or school goes to work but their performance never increases and I can’t change their working mode to anything other than Work Normally. I click the other options but it doesn’t change. The performance bar in the Career tab doesn’t move either positively or negatively, it just stays in Average, which means no one gets promoted or gets better grades.
When they return from work, they come back to the Home lot but their icon remains greyed out and I can’t access their inventory. I can fix this sole issue by going to Manage Worlds and back into the household but this doesn’t fix the other problem.
I have tried new save files, different households, repairing the game and even uninstalling and reinstalling. Help please!!

Best I can tell the bug(s) were introduced in the 9/21/21 patch.

Thanks, I thought it might have been but couldn’t remember when they pushed the last patch out. And this only started happening to me within the last 5 days or so, so I think the bug didn’t start straight away after the last update for me.

@lottiephazey This is a symptom of a bug and not a bug itself.

There's currently a few open issues that can cause this as outlined in that thread. Did any of that happen to you ? Do the suggestions in the thread help you ? Does it happen every time you send them to work no matter the family/save ?

Someone else reported this recently but for them it was a mod so make sure you delete the localthumbcache file after removing mods, especially if it happens every time and not under special circumstances.

I had this same issue for ages. Double check all your mods are off as mine was being caused by the SOL mod (slice of life) and other mods from kawaiistacie like after school activities. Once I removed all kawaiistacie mods it fixed itself and all my other mods were still on.

If it’s not caused by the above sorry I couldn’t help

@lottiephazey yeah i have this exact issue since the last update, its frustrating, ive done the same, Tried fixing the game, removing mods, clearing cache and it still doesnt work.

its a shame a lot of people go to response here is "its the mods" even when people explain its not, some people need to wake up and realise the sims 4 has a history of incompitence in their game, its not always the mods.

@GamerixUK Did you read the thread I linked above ? This is a symptom of a bug and many things can cause it. Would be good if you could give some more information when it happens in your game.

Does it happen for every Sim all the time ?

im having the exact problem. And i traied everything that you proposed and nothing seems to work even when i reinstall and play without mods

Did you rename the user folder ?

It happens with all the careers and sims (including school).
What do you mean whit "reneme the user folder?

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)

Tray Folder

Screenshots/Videos/Custom music

Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)

Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....

ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.

Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
