It is possible that saves get permanently broken.

@Tropix116 You continued to have the same error on a new save or did you just put back the save into your vanilla folder ?

The error did not occur on a new save - only when I put my old saves back into the game to test. So it looks like they might be broken *sigh*

I'll try adding my lots/households into a new game from the gallery so hopefully I can mostly salvage my saves. Thanks to everyone who tried to help fix this 🙂
