We understand how important some of these are to your individual playstyles, and to help reduce game downtime after a patch these are tracked in a thread by the community; for a list of updated mods you can check @luthienrising's post on Forums.TheSims.com here. Please note, this thread assumes that you are fully patched to the latest available game update for The Sims 4. Please see the posts by @crinrict below for more information.

Known Symptoms The list refers to mods that are outdated. It won't be about issues that a updated mods have. This is another topic and is best taken to creator. Can extend to main menu and the gallery showing wwwwwwwwww instead of text. Cause: Little Pancakes' Color Slider mod, UI Cheat, BetterBuildBuy, Other mods that change the UI Note. Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: World Map has overlying text Cause: UI Cheat, BetterBuildBuy, Other mods that change the UI Note. Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: When trying to load the new world, only a white screen is shown Cause: T.O.O.L Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. CAS Symptom: All color options are broken in CAS. Color does not change-. Cause: More Columns In CAS, possibly other Mods that change the UI in CAS Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: X on accessory is missing in CAS Cause: More Columns in CAS Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom:Mouse Cursor has weird icons Cause: CAS Mod Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: Male Sims are invisible Cause: Various sliders Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom:Food Stall/Festival vendors Sells Produce only Cause: Custom Food stalls, playbable NPC jobs Note: Possible permanent corruption if you load a save with broken food stalls. Make sure to update any food stalls before playing or remove them before updating Symptom: Permanent Game Loading in Process Cause: Undetermined Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Buy/Build Symptom: All doors are missing/Script error when placing new ones Cause: Adult mods by Basemental Note: If you saved your game with the doors gone, they won't come back by remove the mod. You will need to place them again. The script error should not occur. Symptom: When switching to build/buy, there's no GUI Cause: UI Cheat extension, ColorSlidersUI, possibly other UI mods Note: Mods can be removed without side effects., If you have this issue and you do not run any mods/play on console, please use this thread instead: Sims 4 unable to build/ use live mode Symptom: When trying to place a bed (cc or not) it gets deleted Cause: CC Beds Note: Mods can be removed without side effects., Symptom: When I try to filter stuff in buy/build it shows everything Cause: Better BuildBuy or Wrongly uninstalled Better Buy/Build. Turn off organised debug before deleting the mod. Note: Not sure what you need to do if you didn't do it. Probably wait till the mod got updated. Live Mode Symptom: Sims will not eat. They just drop the food to the floor Cause: Usually custom content objects Note: If EA adds an new interaction to an object, all CC that is cloned from that object needs updating. Placed CC can cause this. Currently the main issues are CC Beds and Phone mods. Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom:Sims reset when doing homework Cause: Usually custom content objects. Currently the main issues are CC Beds and Phone mods Note: If EA adds an new interaction to an object, all CC that is cloned from that object needs updating. Placed CC can cause this. Currently the main issues are CC Beds and Phone mods. Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom:Clicking on Beds doesn't offer sleep option Cause: Bed cuddle mod, possibly other mods that change something about beds. Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: Toddlers can't take bath Cause: Child bathtub highchair Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: Sims don't do anything, don't react to orders Cause: Several. Note: Mods can be removed without side effects. Symptom: Sims have no faces/Just Teeth visible Cause: Usually custom Eyelashes or similar Note. Mods can be removed without side effects. Error Codes Symptom On loading a lot, the game returns to the world and the message: Game failed to load, please try reloading appears Cause: The cause of this issue varies greatly. The Error Code you're getting is important. Usually this is either a game bug or cause by one of the big script mods. Link: None, please create your own thread, posting a screenshot of the error. Introduction With every patch/game update mods/cc become outdated or even obsolete. Some mods are outdated with almost every patch, others hardly ever. This is just how mods work and is no one's fault. Running your save with an outdated mod can lead to serious issues though to the point where you can't even load the game. In most cases, removing the outdated mods will fix the game but there are instances where this is not the case You lost progress because of the mod and then saved the game The mod corrupted your save Because of this, it's very important to make a backup of your saves before every patch. This is also recommended if you don't use mods cause there are of course also new game bugs. It's also advisable that if you do run into issue to leave the game without saving. What's the purpose of this thread ? Some mods show (almost) identical symptoms with every patch others show new symptoms with a specific patch. To help with all that, this thread contains a list of symptoms and possible culprits. If you have further issues, please post in this thread so other mod users can help you figure out what the issue is or use the 50/50 Method (works for all versions of the Sims) to find faulty mod/cc yourself. If you exhausted all troubleshooting steps provided and still have issues on a new save game with an empty mods folder, please post describing what you have tried. A good mod that can assist you with finding outdated mods is Better Exceptions by TwistedMexi. This list is not conclusive and always a work in progress. New threads will be added so check often. There can also be other mods that cause the same issues but aren't listed. Please always delete the localthumbcache file (a cache file that will recreate when you restart the game) after deleting or adding mods/cc. Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In the gallery
What happens when the bug occurs? The gallery filter is all messed up. I cant use the filters.
What do you expect to see? A gallery with text not stacking up. And being able to filter.

I have the same problem (after installing the two new kits: Modern Lux and Pool side). Also, I have to connect to the internet in order to see things in my offline gallery. Weird. Hope someone has the answer for this soon.

@MiimiiXxx It's the kind of issue that's commonly caused by mods. Try after emptying the Mods folder and deleting localthumbcache. Then check with only updated mods -- it could be something that broke but wasn't updated.

I found a new issue I cant solve? For some reason when I exit out of pop ups or when the popups dont show up my game works then freezes forever, Like, I know it's not a cache issue or a sims 4 folder issue. It has to do with like a mod in specific but because I have like 6000 mods I dont know which. I didn't download any new ones either. The mouse in game still works, just everything else is frozen

@Tomdoesntcare Unfortunately, apart from checking for known broken and updated mods and CC in lists (like mine on the Sims Forums), you might have to do a 50-50 to narrow it down.

First, move your Mods folder to your desktop, make a copy of your Saves there (in case you forget to exit without saving), and delete the file called localthumbcache. If all is good, you can start testing on separate batches of mods to narrow down.

Hiii, I was wondering how I could fix this? It's been effecting my game for the past maybe 3 days? It's been a little annoying because I wanted to download previous sims I made with mods but I wasn't able to load them in because of the glitched out side-bar thing. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but it also effected the way I see people's catalogues. Like whenever I try to look at them, the entire thing comes out blank (I'll insert a pic for reference).

Other than those two things, I think everything else is fine. c:

Hi, i have problems with the sims 4 after downloading the new EA app. I can actived the cheats but when i want to use them some of them doesn’t work. I only can make items bigger but not smaller. Also when i want to stuff on the shelfs i can’t get them there. I cant lower and cant get things up with the 0 and 9 button. If i press 9 my camera is moving me to the other side of the map. Does anyone recognize these problems? I need help. I also repaired the game, that also didnt work

Hi @mmmisun. Some outdated mods for game UI can affect Gallery UI. Make sure that you've updated mods like Color Sliders, More Clubs in CAS< and any others that add something to the game UI.

Hi @kimberlyhm380. I'm not recognizing these symptoms as related to any mors or CC, or to the EA App. I'd suggest testing first to make sure the issue is happening with no mods or CC (remember to delete localthumbcache), then posting with the details in AHQ Bugs.
