Mods Folder Replaced

So I had a problem with the game, I took out my mods folder everything was fine, took out the source and then put my mods folder back. It duplicated so when I do Electronic Arts> Sims 4> Mods, it has me press mods again. For some stupid reason I put them both on the desktop, it came up asking me to replace it, with the one that had no cc in it. I did that, thinking I would solve everything! Help please! I really just want my cc and mods back!!!! Im literally crying right now!!

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

Do not copy your old mods inside the new one but copy the individual Mods/CC there.

Which computer do you use, Mac or Windows PC?

If you're on PC, what you said you did should have combined the 2 folders so your mods should still be there in the Mods folder that remains.  If the files aren't there, then you could check the recycle bin to see if they got moved there on the off chance they got deleted.  You could also try running a search in windows explorer for one of the files if you remember the file name.  My guess is if they got moved somewhere, they would all be in the same place so if you find one, you find all and then can move them back to your mods folder.

    Hope this helps.

  • I play on a MacBook pro. There was no option to merge. It just said stop or replace. I looked in my thrash and got it back, but it only has like a quarter of my CC, not even the good stuff. I looked in my game, all of it is gone. All of it. What do I do?

If you click Replace when the OS prompts, there is no way to recover the contents. Your only option would be to restore from a backup if you have one, either a manual backup, a Time Machine backup, or an iCloud backup depending on your setup.

I found the mods folder in my trash tough, it just didn't have any CC in it. So there must be a way to get the CC back. I don't have a backup. I don't even know how to get one or anything technological, im just a girl who wants her CC back so she can play the Sims 4

Your CC is gone, unless you have a copy of your original Mods folder somewhere on your machine. You have had multiple Mods folders because, I think, you’ve been moving the Mods folder out of the default Sims 4 folder which forces the game to produce a new one. The new one will be empty. If you then move that new one to the same location as the original Mods folder you moved (dekstop) the OS prompts to Replace or Keep Both. You chose Replace which replaces the old Mods folder with the new one, wiping all previous data.

Your opening post is a little confusing. I don’t understand “I took out my mods folder everything was fine, took out the source and then put my mods folder back” (what source?) and “when I do Electronic Arts> Sims 4> Mods, it has me press mods again” (what are you doing and what are you pressing?)

The source is the source of the problem I had (my game was crashing a bunch) When I press Electronic Arts>The Sims 4> Mods. Like, to go to the mods folder. (In finder)
