mods haven't worked in 4 years

i have played the sims 4 for years and years, but out of nowhere 4 years ago my game just suddenly read as not having any mods despite having downloaded hundreds that had worked perfectly until that point. since then, i have literally been trying everything i can think of, following every single piece of advice online but nothing has worked. i've deleted the sims game, the EA app, removed every single file from my computer and redownloaded it, and not a single thing has worked. i'm just honestly defeated and don't know what to do. i have bought expansion packs so i really don't want to make a new account to start over, but i also have no information to how this even started or what to do. has this happened to anyone else? is there anything i can do? i'm really upset so if anyone has ANY suggestions at all i would really appreciate it.
