Thank you both!! I found it. Turns out I deactivated school from MC command centre.
Whilst you're here, I'm wondering if you or anyone else knows the school mod I'm looking for-
It was a mod where the higher grade your child had, the less they had to go to school. An A sim for example would only be in school for 1-2 days a week whereas a child with a lower grade would be there all week as usual.
