My pregnant sims character wont respond

So i use a hp pc to play sims for about 5 days now and my pregnant character isn't responding to all the tasks it needs. When i click on it to shower for example the task on the  bottom left just cancels and has an x over it. Please can you help me to fix this and avoid this
