My sim died Wiles not on lot
My sim died while not on home lot. I would have brought him back to life with my spellcaster but there is no urn.

You'll only receive an urn or tombstone if your Sim dies on your home lot. If your Sim dies on a different lot, unfortunately no urn or tombstone will be available, and you won't have the option to resurrect your Sim.
@EA_Solaire the sim that died was on the home lot. I was on another lot when it happened so they should have been an urn or Tombstone.
