@wahini2024 I agree that is sad and frustrating. If there cannot be any glitch found (you could try the troubleshooting steps I mentioned above), and if it is therefore an intended design or oversight, I think it's great that this issue is placed here as feedback and hope that this would then be considered for adjustment in future updates.
It only seems to happen with one particular sim, so I keep the toddlers away from him till they're kids. I don't see any hidden traits that would make him any different from any of my other sims, as being a boring old so and so, I tend to program them pretty much the same! So no hidden traits, so I guess a buggy parent. His identical twin is just fine with kids. Just the one (called Loveday - the irony!). When the child offers a hug, he puts out his hand and says neeb, neeb. and the toddler looks hurt. Yet HE has the festering grudge not the toddler! I do have mods, but they don't do this to my other sims, so it's weird and frustrating. Thanks for suggestions and I hope if it's a bug it can be fixed. 🙂. Meanwhile no more kids for Loveday and his spouse! I separated Loveday from his family and put him in a haunted house for two weeks as punishment! He was very upset, being family orientated. Nobody missed him. Angel raised the kids himself and aged them up to children, then Loveday moved back in and nobody seemed aware he'd been gone! lol

Oh my goodness... I love it! You sound a lot like me in my play style. No shenanigans or mean Sims allowed in my homes. I've been known to hunt down Sims in 'other households' and delete a vampire or two, a mean or evil Sim, etc.. 🙌
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace@SheriGR haha! I turn all vamipires in the world to human so that we're all safe! No nasties going on in my game! Boring as that may sound! But I have some lovely kids and good sims! Living in Sulani, we can conftont poachers and litterbugs about their wrong doings too. Just nice and harmonious! :D

@Gednaa and @wahini2024 , that sounds awful! So sad to have the parents refuse to hug their toddler! 😭
I hope this gets fixed soon! 🤞
@Gednaa and @SheriGR , In the Sims 2 there used to be Romance Sims (Sims who are afraid of commitment and want multiple partners and to woohoo in public locations) The game was set up for a wedding between a young adult Cassandra Goth (who I think was a Family Sim) and Don Lothario (a Romance Sim). Well Don panicked and left poor Cassandra at the alter, so I punished him by getting him married to a Sim I made named Barbara. Since Sims in TS2 had both Wants and Fears, one of his fears was to get married, so that really did punish him!😅 Despite this he turned out to be a good father! 😲🤣 So he had a lot of wants to be with his children and have them grow up well and get good grades!🥰 In the end he ended up happy, despite the time his pregnant wife Barbara went out to a public venue and a Vampire showed up and bit her, turning her into a Vampire!!!😱🙃 Not what I intended! 😅 - Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace@PugLove888 I love to hear simmer's stories! I wish we could all play together and make our sim's worlds great fun and harmonious! lol

@Gednaa I know you play a lot of Get Famous. Does Loveday have the "no touching" quirk?
(Which, since you play that pack a lot you've probably checked, but just making sure.)
I personally think "no touching" shouldn't apply to your family, but since I had to install a mod to prevent my famous Sims from reacting in disgust to family members and pets until they fixed that...
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
LOL all my vampires subsist on plasma packs, marry, and have children. They're just normal Sims who don't age or die, skill faster, and have unusual dietary requirements. 😉
Okay, I'm playing Vlad in one save, LOL. But I gave him an epic makeover, a wife, twin children, and he's now a Proper Celebrity. He mostly drinks plasma packs but I figured that if the Paparazzi were a nuisance I might let him bite them. LOL. I just wanted to see if I could play Vlad in Vlad's house with my usual play style. (I'm also not letting them have jobs; they're making all their money from songwriting, painting, gardening, and writing books, so Vlad's career panel says "stay at home Dad." Vlad has epic bills, btw.) Vlad is a surprisingly good Dad when I'm playing him.
That said, yes, he's the exception and generally we do things like live on Sulani and send fish poachers away, clean up the environment, save randos with death flowers, etc. When we were doing Friend of the Animals we went through a phase where we rescued stray pets, nursed them back to health, and adopted them out. :D
(My friend has done the adopt strays thing as well and has redecorated Vlad's house to be filled with cat trees, litterboxes, etc., and Vlad lives with many kitties as a Crazy Cat Man in her game.)
Also, semi-recently my Sim married Venessa Jeong, only MCCC had her have 3 children with 3 different men and I forgot to check that before they got engaged. Oops. They had 7 Sims in the Jang's 2 bedroom Hakim House apartment (Venessa, her 3 daughters, her ex-husband, his sister, and his niece), and I only had slots for 2 more in her fiancee's house. So I set up Venessa with her 3 daughters in a gallery house in Newcrest, played them until the two eldest were young adult, and then moved her and her youngest in with my Sim until her youngest aged up to YA, and then she moved back in with her sisters. I've left the 3 sisters marked played and some unrelated Sims of mine are now dating some of them. 😉 (All this because I didn't want Venessa to abandon her children!)
Also, my Super Sim has now done every aspiration except Public Enemy, because I just can't. (She has the good trait, the Compassionate reward trait, and I'm a wimp. Also she's a 5 star celebrity with a Pristine Reputation and I don't want her to screw it up.)
- PugLove8884 years agoHero (Retired)
@Gednaa , glad my story entertained you!
@xochiquetzl_xkvn , I have a hard time completing the Public Enemy Aspiration! It just isn't how I like to play. (I usually like my Sims to get along, unless it is for a story, and that is usually just with certain other Sims) I might try to do it one day, but don't hold your breath! 😅 - xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@PugLove888 Yeah, I did do part of the Public Enemy aspiration in a different save because I was playing the Villareals for Reasons--I made Jacques my "villain" and had him also go to Strangerville and befriend the Mother. But I didn't finish it. I don't really enjoy fights, etc. (I also made Max an A student!)
I usually have no problem with doing Master of Mischief because you can do all the "perform mean or mischievous actions" with funny mischief that other Sims like. TBH the hardest part is getting people to dislike my Sim! because people actually like mischief. (Except Nancy Landgraab, so, alas, poor Nancy! she often ends up the brunt whenever I do that aspiration.) I believe I had my Super Sim and Jacques send people spam chain letters to get people to dislike them. 😉 And then Super went around and charmed them into liking her again, lol.

@PugLove888 @xochiquetzl_xkvn My current sim fired one of his employees (vet) and suddenly now has a 'bad reputation' 😱!! The guy looked like an oompa-loompa. I wonder if he had some hidden trait or something that set this off, as I have never had this after firing an employee. 😬 😂
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@SheriGR Yikes! My vet fired someone and that didn't happen, but, well.
Vet clinic: opens
Employee vet: spawns in front of clinic
Employee vet: starts to run away from the clinic
Me: what?
Employee vet: keeps running
Employee vet: vanishes never to return
We'd been paying for training for her, etc., and I thought she wasn't doing actual work. She spent all her time playing with my Sim's pets and cowplant. After the running away incident her satisfaction went to "unhappy," so I said, "Yeah, me too" and fired her. My Sim didn't take a reputation hit but her relationship with the Sim in question did.
- SheriGR4 years agoHero
@xochiquetzl_xkvn Lol! Yes, I have definitely fired other vets, retail employees, and restaurant employees. I have fired other vets on this lot also, and this is the first time this happened. I think it may be something weird about the oopma-loompa guy. I think it was a good decision. 😂
- PugLove8884 years agoHero (Retired)
@SheriGR I wish you had a picture of this Oompa Loompa Sim! 🤣
And I don't blame you or @xochiquetzl_xkvn for firing either employee! 😅
I haven't played retail or a owned business in a while, so I have not weird employee stories to share. 😞
But I do much prefer the mischief over the outright mean/evil actions! Like you said, Mischief is often liked by other Sims, especially the interaction where you give the other Sim false confidence! 😉 - Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace@xochiquetzl_xkvn You're very observant! I used to play GF a lot, but got tired of all the screaming fans and not being able to raise kids properly, so don't use it anymore. None of my sims are famous, so it's really strange that this is happening. I just had the same thing happen again with a different family, all good, family orientated, but refused to hug their child. He doesn't mind woohooing with his partner anytime though! lol
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Gednaa I just remember you. :D In this case, I remembered your saying you did at one point.
I hear you. I have one save (Super Sim) where everyone is famous and I get really annoyed that my famous Sim's grandchildren can't introduce themselves to their famous grandma. Like, are toddlers really that awed by movie stars?
My Super Sim is kind of down-to-earth (aside from being very ambitious about learning and doing all the things) and they were hounded out of the simple tinyhouse in a modest neighborhood where she grew up by the paparazzi and fans, so... yeah. She'd probably still live there if she could. OTOH, penthouses are good for that sort of thing because limited entryways. There are usually paparazzi hanging around the elevator lobby like a bunch of creepy stalkers, but at least they're not walking through the house, wandering around the garden, etc.
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace@xochiquetzl_xkvn Maybe a bit off topic, but do I remember reading that they've fixed the game so that famous family won't react to their famous like giddy teenagers? I'm sure I read that somewhere but can't remember who it was that said it now! :D. And as for not being able to introduce to granny, that's really bad. And as if toddler know or care who anybody is! The're babies! :D
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I meant react to their famous families!
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Gednaa I hope so! I did have a famous cousin drop by recently, and a child "attempted introduction" and did the screaming thing and was locked out of talking to him. :P I'd love to see that get fixed, but... yeah.
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace
Just to see how being a celebrity works in Cottage Living, I bought some famous sims down from household management. Not only do you have all the animals to look after, crops to tend, but screaming fans too. Still can't go anywhere without people screaming in their faces. The idea of raising kids with this combo is frightening! I thought the Brits (which I am :D ) would be a bit different, but no, just the same old same old... worth the experiment, but not a good match for GF. I would imagine we'd have kids in our farmhouses with the same problems, so it's not for me, I'd love to have a famous Llama though! :D My beloved Banana-Llama is well deserving of fame! lol
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Gednaa Yeah, I took my Super Sim to Henford-on-Bagley and moved her into the lovely empty house in Old New Henford with the rest of her family. They're all five star celebrities. It was fine, but we mainly raised chickens and did the aspiration while her merhusband swam in the river compulsively. 😉 We did not attempt villager errands for that reason.
(We left her adult sister in the San Myshuno penthouse.)
We ended up missing the city and moved back. I like confining the paparazzi to the elevator lobby.
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace
That made me giggle! the thought of you confining the paparazzi to the lobby. I don't know much of San Myshuno, I went there for a while and couldn't stand people wandering in and out of my apartment! People just randomly appeared! Nowadays, I get so bored, I just frighten the hell out of my sims by locking them in a haunted house and cheating all their good moodlets off them so they're terrified! I won't do it to kids though! I now make children in CAS so that the whole toddler stage is missed out. I loved toddlers, but it's unplayable now. The kids barely know the parents when they age up (famous or not) sims seem to be getting worse at bonding than ever. I'm sure there used to be a lot more caring and sharing going on. Now they don't even keep in touch when they become adults, like they're complete strangers. I spend most of my time building or creating sims now. game playing time has gone down a lot! :/
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I like San Myshuno, but I do lock my doors and I also tend to have Sims in penthouses or The Old Salt House. The starter apartments are kind of annoying (in a good way? depends on your playstyle), with noisy neighbors and the like, but I like how lively it is.
With the doors locked, the Paparazzi tend to congregate in the elevator lobby and play on their phones all day. In the burbs, I've found they try to congregate around your pool, hang out in the garden, try to let themselves into your house (but the door's locked)...
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I lived in 1 Torendi Towers for a short while, where people would randomly wander in even with the doors locked (???) and before that one of the other apartments which had noisy neighbours which my sims hated! Also that weird one with the blonde hair and bright suit ( can't remember his name now!) kept coming and complaining to us if we played the piano, so yet another move! Back in Sulani now, and my sims are happy again. Haven't had time to play them much as I do a lot on the gallery these days. Thanks for all the info @xochiquetzl_xkvn 🙂. xxx
- xochiquetzl_xkvn4 years agoSeasoned Ace
@GednaaI think there was a bug where door locks just didn't work on apartments that they've since fixed. Yeah, that would drive me CRAZY. Also you're talking about Diego Lobo! :D
My Sims tend to live in Torendi Tower, too, but I always edit out the basketball court. I've also lived in Fountainview Penthouse, The Old Salt House, and... I forget the name, a super annoying starter apartment next door to Salim Benali, who is a nice Sim but a super annoying neighbor. 😉
- Gednaa4 years agoSeasoned Ace
So... the refusing the toddler a hug is still not fixed! I've had it happen twice in the past few days since I started letting them have kids again, in the hope that the bug was fixed, but obviously it isn't. Please fix this, it ruins the enjoyment of the game. I also got the sad about evil moodlet agains a toddler again!! Heeeeelp. Toddlers are impossible!!! My sims are all good,, cheerful, family traits! What????
