My Sim suddenly died while sleeping.

Hello all. Yesterday I was playing and while my three sims were sleeping, the father of the household vanished- leaving a bump in the bed where he should have been- and the other two sims in the family woke with sad/death of family member emotions. The reaper did not show up,  he was not in any distress (I hadn't even had them in the home for 24 hours yet- it was the first night), and there is no urn. He just vanished. Oddly,  he has no ghost, but his ghost sent a text message to his daughter? Any ideas about this? 

I do have a few mods, but most are disabled at the moment as they need updating from the new HS release.
