My sim won't go to work in certain careers

So my sim won't go to work in certain careers, some are working fine but some arent.

For example when I joined the painter career in the master of the real branch (either branch i go into it won't work), a notif popped up but it was completely blank (image attached)

When it was time for my sim to go to work, it wouldn't go, pressing 'go to work' on the careers tab wouldn't change anything, it just kept doing other things. I got a pop up which i assume was for missing work but it was also blank (attached)

Has anyone else had the same bug? I do have mods/cc - are there any known to conflict with careers.
