My sim won't serve food

My sim won't make food when I click the serve button. I'll click serve food on a refrigerator and choose what I want my sim to cook. The game will automatically take money away and she'll start cooking, but then she places it on the tv stand unfinished and sits to watch tv. There's only one other person in the household and dog so I don't think it's a problem with the people. This happens every time with this one sim. I haven't tried it in other households yet. But, whenever I try to drag the unfinished meal to the trashcan it'll just hover over it. If I try to have that same sim throw it away she can't. It's not a problem with her skill because the level is very high. The sim is an adult and will not serve food. (The kitchen has everything needed as well.)

Also there is another problem with books. That same sim will get a book and supposedly read it. While she's reading it it teleports onto the floor and won't move. She's still standing as if she is reading, but the book isn't in her hand. Then when she's done it's still on the ground so I have to drag it into her inventory.

I'm unsure if it's a gameplay or mod issue. (I just got a new pack and made this household at about the same time.)
