My sims 4 wont open

I have never used this site and this is a last resort, my sims game wont open it says 'cannot start because the file below appears to be corrupted, if this is a mod please remove it and try again, if not please repair or reinstall the game via origin.' You may think this is simple but nope for the last two days i have been trying to fix this ( if i remove the 'corruped' file it will choose a random file in my mods folder to say its corrupted, the files are synced with one drive and i have uninstelled one drive and tryed to unsync them but im at my wits end here (i have 3000+ mods and want to keep them, also theyre all up to date 100%)

Things ive tryed:

reinstalling the game,

removing one drive,

unsyncing one drive,

and trying to repair the game via origin but it wont let me

please help ive lost my save files, i just want to play the sims with mods.

  • @476mzdc0jsqa  What happens when you try to repair the game?  If you get an error, please post a screenshot.  And please try restarting your computer just before repairing as well.

I understand you want to play with mods, but I'd also like to know whether you can open the game with no mods present at all, just as a test.  So please move the entire Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package, then try to launch it and let me know how it goes.

@476mzdc0jsqa  The Repair button should be grayed out if you're actually playing, but not otherwise.  If you can't click it even when Sims 4 isn't running, and restarting your computer doesn't help, try clearing Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

But since your issue goes away with no mods present, it's pretty clear that's the cause.  You'll need to test the mods you have to find out which ones are broken.  If you have a lot of them, the 50/50 method can make the process much more efficient.

@476mzdc0jsqa  Did you move your existing Mods folder back, or are you still working with the new one the game generated?  Please keep using the new Mods folder, or if you've deleted it, let the game create another new one.

Download one mod known to be compatible with the current patch level (1.90) and add that to the otherwise empty new Mods folder, then see whether you get the same error.  If you don't, you can try adding one of your other mods or cc items to the new folder.  If the error shows up again, the problem is that file, and you'll need to look for an update or just stop using it.

@476mzdc0jsqa  Do you use OneDrive, and if so, is it full or close to it?  Please also post a screenshot of the Mods folder with the new mods in it: I'd like to see if there's an obvious syncing issue with the newly-downloaded files.

@476mzdc0jsqa  When you add back a cc item and the game stops working, are you sure that cc item works on its own?  Is it possible that item conflicts with another cc item you've already added?  The way to test is to try different combinations of items that you've already confirmed work alone.
