My sims are on a normal lifespan even when I switched it to short in settings

In sims 4 when I go into the gameplay settings and click short lifespan nothing happens. I save the settings but it makes it so that my sims still have a normal lifespan even though it's supposed to be on short. When I first started this new family it worked and was on short but after I saved and quit and when I rejoined another time it went back to normal and I haven't been able to change it since then. So why do my sims have a normal lifespan even though it says short in the settings?

  • @lightningbarr0w  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete options.ini.  This will reset all your in-game settings, not just aging, so if this doesn't help and you don't want to redo the other settings, you can delete the new copy of options.ini and put the old one back.
