My sims game wont open

How can I fix my sims game?

I have been playing the sims for a while now. I play with cc/mods and I do have quite a lot of it. Today I updated my game and it turned on fine but my mods were off so I switched them on and went out the game. So I turned the sims on again and then it just came up and said that a mod broke my game and I have to reinstall it or something like that. It told me what mod it was and I downloaded some new mods last night so I thought that was the problem so I deleted it. It still wasn’t working, so I repaired it and reset my laptop. It still didn’t work so I deleted every mod I had from that same person, (it was like counters, cabinets and ovens for build mode.) Then, i tried again. It said the same thing but with a different mod this time? But I have had this mod for a while and now it somehow broke. I have deleted it and now my game is taking ages to turn on.
What should I do? Should I reinstall my game or delete all my mods? Or Is it my laptop acting up?

  • My sims game is broken please help. When i try to turn it on it keeps telling me that this mod broke my game so I uninstall them and it still says the same thing I’ve tried so many times deleting a few other mods by the same person and repairing the game and it still doesn’t work, please help!

  • @m53115  It's probably your mods.  Yesterday's patch broke mods that had previously been working fine, perhaps including some of yours.  First, please confirm that your game works fine with no mods or custom content at all: move the Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and test.

If your game works, you can use the 50/50 method to sort through your mods:

Keep in mind that you may have more than one broken mod, so just because you find one doesn't mean the rest are safe to use.  You'll still need to test the others.

  • Try these steps:

    1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop

    2) Delete the localthumbcache.package file in the game folder. This is important because it can contain bits of corrupted data even after you remove your CC/Mods! Raised eyebrow This is found in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

    3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list. Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game.

    4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty. Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.

    5) Now you can try adding back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly. If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method, working in batches to see which CC item or Mod is the culprit. (You could have multiple items causing problems.)

The CC creators will usually update the CC items and Mods after these updates, so when you find out which one is the culprit, you can get the updated version from whoever made that item of CC in the first place. You should try these steps anytime you have problems in your game to rule out CC/Mods problems. It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC creators to update their items anytime EA releases a patch/update, and it is the responsibility of the people who use Mods/CC to make sure they are using the most recent version.
