@BrockehPotato, 2 more things: check to see if there is something left in your Sim's oven.🤨 People have reported that this happened to them and that there Sim wasn't able to cook! 😃 Probably isn't your problem since you tried a new stove, but it can't hurt to check! 😉
I also know that you tried your stove in the middle of the room, but did you try your new stove in the middle of the room?
If these don't work , then you can try to delete you local thumb cache & repair your game in Origin.
Go into the Game Folder. Delete the localthumbcache.package file int the game folder .
Log in to Origin. Click on "My Game Library". Then Right-click on The Sims 4. Then choose "Repair" from the list. Wait until all of your packs are fixed (not just the base game).
I know you don't play with Mods/CC now, but if you ever did, it could be a bit of leftover code that is causing the problem. In that case you would need to remove your Mods folder (delete it) and restart the game so it can create a new, empty one. Then delete your localthumbcache.package file and repair you game in Origin as explained above. 😉
Please update me if any of these work or not! Best of luck! 🤞
@PugLove888 @V8CuckooFlower, no matter where any sim in my household is (Even right next to or in front of the oven) it won't continue cooking. The is a doorway into the kitchen and nothing is obstructing the way into the kitchen and to the oven. When my sim is cooking, they stop either half way done or almost done and show a bubble over their head with footsteps leading to a red X. Then no matter where, when or who tries to continue they will make that bubble appear over their head. And nothing is in the oven I am currently using. The sims even cancel everything they are doing to continue cooking but then reveal that the cannot. Every time a sim fails to continue cooking I tell them to clean up and they are able to do that but not able to continue cooking. Then I try to cook something else or the same thing but the whole process loops again. Also I only recently downloaded the Sims 4 and don't even know how to add mods to the game.

@PugLove888, deleting localthumbcache.package and repairing did not work and nothing has changed.

@BrockehPotato, I'm sorry to hear that deleting the localthumbcache.pakage file and repairing your game didn't help! 😞 You must very frustrated! 😢
You can try to have one of your Sims visit a friend and try to cook in their kitchen. This way we can see if the problem is a glitched Sim family or if it is something in their house that is the problem. 😉
It is really difficult to troubleshoot what is going on in your game without at least seeing your kitchen setup. If you could do one of two things it might help:
1) you can attach pictures of your Sims' kitchen taken on the in--game camera to your post so we can see it (preferably both with walls cutaway and walls up).
2) you can upload the house to the Gallery as a test and then myself as well as some other helpers can see if we get the same results with our Sims.
I'm sorry to ask you do all this, but sometimes finding a problem in the game can be tricky! ☹️ You could in the mean time (after you try the things I mentioned above) to play a new Save Game. That way you can still play the game while we are trying to figure out what is wrong with your lot/family/house situation! 🙂

Would you be willing to share your save with me ?
If so, please zip your saves folder and upload it somewhere like dropbox,, googledrive or OneDrive and PM me the link.

@BrockehPotato, do you have and changes to what's going on in your game? 🤔 Did you try to have your Sim visit a friend and cook on their stove? Other than that you can
1) attach pictures of your kitchen/stove layout with walls cutaway and walls up , so we can see if we can figure out what is going on.
2) upload your house to the Gallery and inform us, so we can download it and see if we can find anything. Sometimes it is easier to figure something out by taking it apart.😉
3) give your save file to @crinrict to see what she can find. There is a reason @crinrict has the Hero title! :eahigh_file:
4) move your family to a different house. (last measure!)
Hopefully we can figure out what is happening with your game! 🙂🤞

I know that much advice has already been given to you on this issue, but I just wanted to add that sometimes a messy counter, messy oven, lack of counter space, or a kitchen island that is too close can also affect cooking completion.
If if you believe your sims aren’t finishing cooking just because you see no food appear afterwards, then they may be placing it somewhere that you don’t expect, like their inventory or a picnic table. If you believe your sims aren’t finishing because you are actually witnessing them stop, however, then I don’t have much further advice.
I hope you find a way to fix the cooking issue. Good luck!

@PugLove888 @crinrict, I apologize, for I have been rather busy lately. I will try to send you a zipped file on google drive when I am able to as well as try out the tips you gave me.

@MissAmazing903, I see them stop cooking and I get an option to continue cooking
- PugLove8887 years agoHero (Retired)
@BrockehPotato, that is understandable! We all get busy. 😃 I just didn't want you to give up if we still had some possibilities as to why this is happening! 😉 You can try the other suggestions, and send Crinrict your file whenever you get the chance. 🙂 Same for uploading your house as a test so some of the helpers who are experienced at building in TS4 can see if they can find anything. (If you do upload the house to the Gallery, be sure to tell us and perhaps include the work "Test" or something like that in the title so unsuspecting people won't accidentally upload it. 😇 )
Take your time, and hopefully we will find out what is going on! 🤞
- 7 years agoIt might sound basic but did you try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it, it might be a long process but could work?
- PugLove8887 years agoHero (Retired)
@BrockehPotato and @OhRhiannon , if you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game, be sure to back up your Sims 4 folder first!!! This is to make sure you have your saves still intact,.😉 Otherwise, all you hard work could disappear! 😮
@BrockehPotato, I would personally not do this, but if you do, I would only do it if you have tired everything else (like letting @crinrict see your save file) or uploading your house as a test to the Gallery so some of us can find out what is going on). 😇
- 7 years agoYes I do think uninstalling is a last resort but if it comes down to it it comes down to it.
