I've avoided using this just because I don't want sims to be able to just impregnate themselves LOL!
Start pregnancy will use their partner if they have one. If not, it will be a single-parent-generated baby. Like EG mentioned, Start Pregnancy Use Active will override the partner of the pregnancy and use the current active Sim. Basically allowing you to mix your current active Sim's genetics with the selected Sim's for the baby with no romantic interaction. That actually doesn't sound unlike alien abductions! Hmmm....
