Not Able to Repair Things

Hi again, In my same household where i lost several saves, neither one of my sims are able to repair anything. My only other option is to replace the item. When I click on the broken object, my only option is to "call emergency repair" (usually in the wee hours of the morning). The husband is lev 6 in  handiness and *should* be able to repair things. I'm also still experiencing lag. Also, I just tried to attach 2 images, but the interface said that I had "too many attachments; only 3 allowed." I only had 2!!
