Objects disappearing in build/buy mode

when I'm in build/buy mode objects almost always disappear as soon as i try to buy them. There's one or two objects that don't do this, but 9/10 times the object disappears immediately after or soon after i buy it and drag it into the world. There are also some times where i can't even select an object to begin with, i tried repairing my game, getting rid of all the cc, and deleting the localthumbcash but none of it has worked.

@panwithoutaplan1 Unfortunately I cannot open the video you added, and if I run it in the comment it's way too tiny to see. Have you tried to see if the issues you're having are present in a new, vanilla game save? Also, when you remove your Mods/CC to test, I'm wondering if perhaps you missed a step we recommend, and would you mind doing it one more time, following the directions in the spoiler tag? Thank you, and I look forward to hearing what happens, and perhaps some screenshots of the issues?

Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can then test without saving – or in a new vanilla game save – in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue. Then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.
Also... if you would like to share the lot in the gallery, I'd be happy to try it in my game and see if that makes any difference, or if I can see any causes on the lot. Directions for doing that in the spoiler tag:

You could name it something like "Placement Testing". Then please add a comment in this thread to let me know the name, and please let me know if your User ID in the gallery is different than it is here in the forum.

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.42.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? expansion packs- all but snowy escapes and eco lifestyle game packs- all but wedding stories and journey to batuu stuff packs- tiny living, laundry day, backyard stuff, my first pet, cool kitchen and bowling night
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In build mode try and put down any items
What happens when the bug occurs? When i am in build mode and trying to put down any item it instantly disappears the second i click on it, items that are already placed are not affected but when i try to place any new items i can't as they disappear too quickly.
What do you expect to see? When trying to place furniture in build mode it will disappear as soon as you try to place it.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

When i first load up the game it's fine, but after a couple of minutes i can no longer place any items.

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by clicking on the dots in EA app.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)

Tray Folder

Screenshots/Videos/Custom music

Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)

Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....

ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.

Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

I have this issue currently and I haven't used nay Mods and I don't know what to do and it is incredibly frustrating that I can't place anymore objects in build mode. Were you able to find a solution???

Can I clarify if this issue is happening on all lots and saves in your game, or if it's just in one game save, and more specifically just in one lot? Is this a lot that you made or that you downloaded from the gallery?
If the issue is present in other lots and game saves, did you try the reset directions and a new game as mentioned by @crinrict (above)?

i dont know if you still have this issue considering this thread is from october but i had the same thing happen to me and its not a mod or cc related bug. its due to a corrupted save file. it happened to me in my save file even without mods or cc so i started a new save file and it fixed.

Hi,
So I kind of have the same issue. Only when in build buy mode I'll click an object and go to place it and a whole room will disappear, so I hit undo and it comes back but as soon as I move the mouse it deletes again. I'll sit there a few good minutes fighting with the undo button till I can finally save and end game. I started a new game and it happened again. Only in buildbuy mode tho. Game play is fine.

I did my own house and I want my sim to live there but I can't keep the third floor on to play. I tried moving in and I can't use anything in the room that kept deleting. Like it says it's blocked off(🚷) it's there but non functional.

@Tysmimixxo Does this happen if you do a "vanilla" test? Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
