Parenting predicament: Play with toys won't tick

 I'm not sure what you mean by "but it still won’t tick"? If your household members are stuck on a command, and the issue did not stop when you quit and  went back into the game, you may want to try the following:

1. First, I would leave the game and make sure the game is fully updated (click spoiler tag):
   
   Spoiler

   How to update your game:
   • open Origin
   • click ‘Game Library’
   • right-click Sims 4 > Update Game
2. Second, I would run a game repair as follows:

   How to run a game repair:
   • Open Origin, click ‘Game Library’ then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game
   • Let it run until it has completed all repairs. It will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits).
3. Do you have Mods/CC? If so, I would see if the issue is gone with them removed, without saving the test. If the issue is gone with the Mods folder moved to your desktop and thelocalthumbcache.package file removed , I would leave without saving and troubleshoot for which Mod/CC is causing the issue. Directions for this process are as follows:

   Try moving the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue, then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.
