Primary Gallery Portrait Won't Change

For some reason, no matter what I do, I can't get the primary gallery portraits for CAS to change. Normally, you go to save it to your library and you can click the camera icon to retake the shot. I can click on the camera to my heart's content and the portrait never changes. I do have some CC saved that deals with primary and secondary portraits, but I run into the same problem even if I remove them.

Help?

  • @haveahiddles   Hi!  I have to say you did a great job with Entrapta and Hordak. ♥

First, maybe take those portrait CC out again and also delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game for testing.  This cache file has been known to carry effects of mods/CC even when they've been removed.  Perhaps also try running a game repair after deleting the cache file and before opening the game to test.

If it's still not working, you might need to take out all your mods / CC.  Again, delete that cache file before testing.

If it works without any mods / CC, then check to make sure you have the most recent versions.  Once you're sure you have the latest updates, test again.  If the problem persists, you'll need to test them in batches to see which one (or possibly more than one) is causing the problem.

@haveahiddles   LOL  Oh yeah!  I had forgotten about Wrong Hordak.  I was thinking you had created Hordak before and after his separation from the collective. :-)

Were you able to get your portrait to change?

  • Yes, I got it working! Now if I can just figure out why the custom gallery pictures keep putting the sims in the wrong place.

    Thank you for the help!

@haveahiddles   That's awesome!  I'm glad you were able to fix it.  Would you mind sharing what worked for you?  There may be others with the same issue who would benefit from your experience.

  • I removed all of my CC to a non-EA folder on my laptop. Opened the game and the gallery portraits worked properly. Put all the CC back minus the gallery-specific ones, opened game and the portraits still worked. Re-added the Gallery CC I had on a 50/50 basis until I found which one was causing the problem. (Outdated package file that I was able to update).

  • Hi, late here, but I am have the same problem, even without all the gallery cc, what should I do?
