Custom Content and The Gallery

Different to the Sims 3, custom content and mods do NOT spread or get downloaded with items from the gallery. If you don't have certain cc that shows in lots/Sims they will get replaced or removed just like with items of packs you don't own.

The creator often gives info where to find the CC, if not, ask them so you can download and add it to your game. Once installed into your game, it will show up in the downloaded house.

If you like to share houses/Sims with CC installed yourself, you can use the Tray Importer (custom non-ea tool, just google) to help you find give you information about any cc you used so you can pass that on.

Uploaded Lots/Sims with Custom Content.

If you use CC on your lots/Sims, the lot/Sim will get flagged as Modded and doesn't show in the gallery unless you tick Include Custom Content. Downloading these will not get you the actual CC.

The following things trigger an item to be flagged as modded

  • Lot/Sim contains CC
  • Sim contains custom traits/aspirations/careers or other custom properties
  • A lot contains a picture/photo of CC
  • Photos and Paint by reference paintings get often flagged as cc (not always)
  • Replacing the preview picture with tools

    Hi! I was wondering if you had any information about running mods of an external hard drive? I have been trying to move them over for about a year and have done just about everything under the sun but the game just creates a new folder onto my laptops internal drive. I have tried creating junctions to and from each drive and that didnt work. The game itself is downloaded onto my external drive.

    @PandaPopPlays  The only way to make this work is to use a symbolic link, but you need to make sure the symlink itself is placed in the location where Sims 4 is creating the new user folder.  For that, let the game create the new folder, right-click that folder, and select Properties > General.  The Location is the file path you'll need to use in the command that creates the symlink.

    Before creating the symlink itself, you'll need to remove that new Sims 4 folder.  Windows won't be able to create a symlink in a location where another file or folder with the same name already exists.

    If this doesn't help, please list that file path, and also list the full path to the location where you want your user folder to be on the external drive.
