Re: Cannot edit pre-exisiting sims relationships

@SianAF148

I suppose its possible. Not sure how to remove that either. It's not a relationship issue then... it's a family tree thing.

There might be a down-and-dirty method of fixing it... it would entail creating a NEW Elsa and configuring her to be the same as the old one. Copying looks and outfits is easy. MCCC has a copy/paste option to copy another sim's looks and outfits. Then she would "appear" the same as the old one, without the mystery "father".

Try deleting the relationships first and see if it lets you set everything properly. (Make sure to check their ages first) If it works, you're golden. If it won't allow a certain relationship to be set like Elsa, then you may need to recreate them.

P.S. See what you did?  Now I have to try that on mine...

Figured out an easier way to fix Elsa. What was happening appears to be a glitch in the parent's relationship. Even though their married, it acted like they were brother and sister, but only in regards to Elsa. If I set Clara to be Elsa's mother then Bjorn can't be the father. If I set Bjorn to be the father, then I can't set Clara to be the mother. Don't know why its doing that.

What I ended up doing was this...  I took the family into CAS and then saved it to my library. I deleted Elsa completely from the family. I then used F4 to merge the family in the library with the current one. This gave me duplicates of Bjorn, Clara, and Sofia. I deleted the duplicates. So, I had the original family and then Elsa from the version from the library.

It then allowed me to set all the relationships properly. This will work, however you'll lose all other relationships with everyone else outside the family. You'll keep the job and skills though.

Well I tried a combination of our different tactics on a duplicate of my save, and making Lilith and Caleb not even know each other exist and then making them siblings allowed me to successfully make each parent related to both of them as parents.

    However.

The issue is that on my save, Lilith and Caleb are.... somewhat popular... and as much as it is possible to go around every household and redo all their relationships... I'd rather not spend an hour doing it. But in future saves, I'll be sure to add family relationships to pre-mades that I actually like before having their presence knitted into the memory of many of my sims. Before giving the Vatores parents, I gave Morgyn Ember from RoM some parents and a sister, but since Morgyn is a lone character with no pre-existing relationships it was relatively easy and I was hoping it would be the same for Lilith and Caleb but I realised it was not.

@SianAF148 If you only deleted the relationship between Lilith and Caleb, it shouldn't effect their relationships with anyone else.

Now, MY method I had to use for Elsa would definitely do that. But I would see that as a last resort. I tried numerous times to just delete the individual relationships but it wouldn't work like it did in yours.

Just deleting the individual relationship works in most cases. I use it all the time. What happened with me and Elsa is rare and almost never happens.

How do you delete the relationship without deleting and replacing them then? I still have the pre-vatore sibling nuke version of the save.

    You'll need MCCC.

If you want to just delete the relationship between Caleb and Lilith for example, Go into Live mode and select one of them. Caleb for example. While controlling Caleb, click on Caleb and select MC Command Center / Relationships / Delete Relationship. Then click on the sim you want to delete Caleb's relationship with. Lilith in this example.

This will delete everything between them. Siblings, everything. It's like they were total strangers.

There might be a console cheat command that will do it but I don't use them most of the time. Cheat commands have been extremely unreliable for the past few years and they don't work most of the time. Mods like UI Cheats and MCCC are extremely reliable.

Aah okay I'll give that a try. I have had MCCC for quite a while but it's quite a big mod and allows you to mess with quite a bit, so I seem to learn more about it whenever I have a problem that vanilla sims cannot solve.

If it works, this would have saved me a lot of trouble a while ago when I tried to re-create the sims 2 Smith-Curious-Singles family tree in the sims 4. Those Curious brothers were a pain...and it was even worse trying to make Jenny their sister... only 2/3 curious brothers could be set as her brother.

@SianAF148 Yeah. The game is stubborn that way.

(Other than the normal age difference problems) If you have any problems setting relationships, it's likely the existing relationships getting in the way. Just delete them and everything will be golden.
