Re: Extremely Limited Social Interactions

Try the following

  • Close the game
  • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
  • Repair the game
  • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. Be aware that your claimed event rewards will also be gone for the time being but you will get them back with your other things.
  • Start a new save game
  • Check if you still have the error
  • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

    HI @Temi12345667

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)

    - Usersettings(.ini) (your event rewards)
    - Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.

  • @crinrict Hey,, thanks! ended up doing that and it seems that its a mod that's causing it because its only when I add my mod folder back in that issues happen. But I have done the sweeping process 4 times now, where I go through my mods to remove either the broken one or the one that hasn't been updated( and these are the ones that the better exception mod doesn't pick up on). But then the game goes back to normal for a while and then this issue arises again, with the interactions, so at this point I'm not sure if it's the mods or not.

@Temi12345667 One cause of this can be mods you're missing pieces of or that are otherwise wrongly installed. Check you complex mods for installation. Often it's best to delete them and redownload them.

@luthienrising I ended up going through them and deleting and re downloading all the larger mods. However, now my CAS isn't opening, when I choose to change a sim or use the cheat to modify the sim the loading screen shows and 2 different theme songs start playing, kind of overlapping each other, and the CAS doesn't open, it's just a loading screen and then I have to close the game. But everything else is working fine. Do you know what might be the issue here?
  • Hi, I tried everything up until adding my own save back into the game. Once I added my save in it went back to being broken. Does that mean my save is broken because I have not added any mods back or anything

I tried trying a new save and it’s the same problem, the social interactions are not working properly. They are coming up exactly like the original posts did

@bbyxmimi The most common non-mod cause of this is your actual game files needing some repair by EA. You can do this via the EA App with a Game Repair. If you use Steam instead, you can verify files through Steam. If you have a last exception file from when this happens, I'm happy to have a look.

@luthienrisingwould I have to repair with everything still in the folder. Because I have repaired by making a whole new game file and whenever I added my saves back into the game the problem happened again

@bbyxmimi I'm not sure what you mean by making a new game file? Game Repair doesn't affect your user folder at all. It fixes your program installation.

Hi so I have already done all that, when making the clean folder the social interactions worked but the minute I moved my save files (only my save files no mods no nothing) the issue happened again. Once my save files were in the game, I thought it could maybe be just that save but when creating a new save the issue was still there

@bbyxmimi Try loading an earlier version of your saves, and doing a Save As. Also try with *only* that save in the folder. I can't, though, think of any mod I've seen that would cause this to happen when it's been removed. If a "save as" doesn't clear it and it happens on any previous save, I'm happy to see if your save does the same thing for me.
