Did you repair the game? Can you try a new Sims 4 folder by renaming the current one so the game creates a new one and you can test a completely new clean game please.

I think this is similar to the one already existing, but somehow I'm getting access denied on that one so voted for this one instead.

I think you're referring to this known issue caused by Mods? There is no upvoting as it is Mod related and in the Mods forum. Can you try accessing that thread directly from this link When Loading Save, Game Returns to Neighborhood Select Screen | EA Forums - 12488560 

Mine is doing the same thing, I can access cas and see my lots but if I click any of them I get that the game failed and I get

I've got the same problem.

Strange thing is, I stopped the update, launched the game offline and loaded the household perfectly fine. But as a mod notified me that there's an update I thought I would go ahead and update the game as well (which was just supposed to be added skin details) and then suddenly I can't get into the household anymore. So there's something wrong specifically to do with the update.

No mod conflicts, no nothing. Just the game itself. I'm not gonna create an entirely new game for something that didn't happen before an update that was supposed to be entirely cosmetic.

I'm getting a bit tired of this happening every time I come back to the sims after a long break.

I had the exact issue, but in my case turned out to be mod-related. I did follow the standard procedure of updating the mods, deleting the thumbcache, clearing the bin, and so forth, so just as OP at first I thought it was the new patch wrecking havok. BUT, removing the mods and repairing the game worked for me, and after using the 50/50 method to comb my mods I found out the culprit was TOOL. Tmex has updated it early this month, but clearly yesterday patch broke it again. The good news is he has just released a new version compatible with the current game. Idk if this can help OP, given that removing the mods didn't change anything for them, but I'm leaving this here in case other simmers are going through what I did. 

I tried your suggestions, and it worked. The game could load the lots again, so the issue seems to have been in my Sims 4 folder somewhere. 

I spent even more time going through the EA forums and saw some people suggesting that there were problems with the ts4script-files. So, I tried to add mods that don't use ts4script-files, and the game continued to work. Eventually, I renamed the folders again (so the game would use my old folder), and using only mods without ts4script-files, the game seemed to work again. Which makes no sense since I removed ALL mods and CC before even trying that...? 

The only thing I could find in my old folder that was a bit off was that some mods had created files in other folders (I think there was something in the Tray folder, possibly elsewhere, but I don't remember exactly). I didn't think to remove those the first time I removed all mods, so I don't know if that might have caused some issues. That's the only thing that I can think of that was different between the old and new folders (besides the obvious stuff like saves, etc.).

This patch has genuinely caused more issues than many full updates🙃

I kept trying to test my mods to see if any of them caused issues, and TOOL didn't work for me either. Tmex released a new update last night that I'm very thankful for 🎉 

I tried repairing my game, which didn't seem to do much. But I also found stray files around my Sims 4 folder that some mods have created (don't know when/why). After I removed those, the game worked again, so I started adding my mods one by one, and found most of them to be working. So I'm not sure if repairing the game, removing the stray files, or maybe both fixed it, but I'm just happy that my game is working and I didn't lose any of my saves 🙌

I'm having this too. All the mods that are in my game are either updated or marked as safe. I've also disabled cc, deleted thumbcache, and it's the same issue. Game worked 100% fine before the update!

I have this problem too, BUT I solved it! For me, If you have mods, take out all the ts4script files. One or some of them may be the problem. I took them out and slowly put one by one back in. It's solved for me. 

I, too, am having this issue. i use curseforge, so all my mods except a few are updated automatically, and i double checked it to be sure everything was up to date with the new update, and my game will not load my household, i'm immediately reverted back to the world page. 

You are onto something! I removed all my ts4scripts, reloaded my game and it loaded into my household! but i exited without saving, re-added all my ts4scripts and loaded back in, and it crashed again. time to split the folders and narrow it down i guess 😭😭😭 i’ll be here all night 😴 

Just loaded into my game and am having the exact same problem as the OP.

for me it was health redux mod by adeepingo, as soon as it was taken out it ended up working for me.. kinda sucks because its a fun mod.

I would recommend downloading better exceptions, i did and deleted the mods it said was effecting my game. Worked like a charm after 👍

So what kind of mods and cc are the ones that aren't working? Like specific names.  As someone who plays with cc and mods. Are there no way to keep playing with my mods and still be able to launch the game? 

had the same issue, for me it was the Slice of Life mod that messed it up
