Re: how to fix routing error

@cpezlks15omg     Hello!  Would you mind sharing your lot to the Gallery?  Perhaps we could test it a bit further to see what's causing the problem.

If you're sure that the issue is with mods or CC, the best thing to do is test them.  This can be a bit of a tedious process but it will be worth it to fix your game.  Click the spoiler here to see the steps I use to test Mods/CC.

Spoiler

1. Create a new game for testing so that your current save is left unchanged until you've identified the problem mods/CC.

2. Create some folders on your desktop; perhaps one labeled "Tested Safe Mods-CC", another labeled "Mods-CC Needs Testing" and one more labeled "Broken Mods-CC" so you know which ones to check for updates. This will keep tested mods/CC separated.

3. Exit the game if you haven't already, and divide your mods/CC in half; put one half in the Needs Testing folder and put/keep the other half into the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder.

4. Delete the localthumbcache.package file, located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game with the half you're testing,

5. If the game works with that half, exit the game, move that half to the Safe Mods-CC folder and move the remaining "Needs Testing" mods back to the Mods folder to test (Again, delete that cache file before opening the game.)

6. Once you know which half is causing the issue, divide those in half, keeping one half in the "Needs Testing" folder and one half in your Mods folder, and test again (delete the cache file each time after moving mods/CC and before opening the game) and moving mods/CC not causing problems into the Safe folder.

7. Repeat this process until you find all that are broken.

@cpezlks15omg   I see you marked your post as the solution.  Were you able to fix the issue?

By the way, what I mean by dividing mods / CC in half is to split them.  So, if you have 50 mod / CC files, then test 25 files first and if the game works without those, test the other 25 files, and so on.

Also, there are a number of ways to test mods / CC.  What I provided is just my variation of what's commonly known as the 50/50 method which works for me and is very thorough.

    @cpezlks15omg    Okay.  Sounds good.

One thing I just thought of is if you have your mods and CC divided into folders already.  Then you could just start by testing with each folder until you find the problem.  Remember to do delete the localthumbcache file after removing any mods/CC and before opening the game to test.  That file can carry effects from mods/CC even when they've been removed.

I'd still like to test out the lot in my game, if you don't mind sharing it to the Gallery.  Maybe you could name it something like "Routing Error" and also give it a #routingerror to make it easier to find.  The Gallery has been misbehaving since the big maintenance.

Whatever the case, I hope you find the problem! :-)

@cpezlks15omg   Oh!  Okay.  Do you mind sharing the name of the lot?  Perhaps I can try getting it from TSR to test.

By the way, have you made any changes to the lot since you DLed it?

You have just helped me so much! This worked! It was literally 1 piece of custom content causing the issue. Thank you!
