Re: I can’t control sims in rabbit holes.

@AAstroTurf , it doesn't matter if you have downloaded Mods or CC recently or not.  What matters is if those Mods/CC are outdated or not! 🤨 Mods/CC often become outdated after the game receives a patch/update.

There is a way to test for this.

Please do all of the following:

1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop

2) Delete the localthumbcache.package file in the game folder. This is very important because it can contain bits of corrupted data even after you remove your CC/Mods! 🤨 This is found in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list.  Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game.

4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty.  Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.

5) Now you can try adding back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly.  If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method, working in batches to see which CC item or Mod is the culprit. (You could have multiple items causing problems.)

The CC creators will usually update the CC items and Mods after these updates, so when you find out which one is the culprit, you can get the updated version from whoever made that item of CC in the first place.  You should try these steps anytime you have problems in your game to rule out CC/Mods problems.  It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC creators to update their items anytime EA releases a patch/update, and it is the responsibility of the people who use Mods/CC to make sure they are using the most recent version.

When you find the updated version of your CC items, you can put them back into your game.🙂

I know testing to see if any of your Mods or CC is outdated is annoying, but it must be done if you want to use Mods and CC!  😅

Please update us on your situation! 😇

@PugLove888 Should pressing repair in Origin make any visible change in Origin? I click it but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

@AAstroTurf , it won't do anything if your game is still running.  You will need to have your game off, and then when you click Repair it should bring up a box with a percentage in a circle and under that say "verifying game" or something to that effect.

Then , on my left side it will start going through all the packs, and it will list them as it goes along. The Download Manager will show you which one is being downloaded/repaired, and to the right of that it will list all the packs as it goes through them. At least that is what happens when I repair the game. 🙂

@PugLove888 the game wasn’t running but none of that showed up. when I started the game on Steam it said preforming first time setup, or something like that.

@AAstroTurf , Ah... well I'm not on Steam so I can't tell you what is normal or not using it.  I only know what happens when I repair the game through Origin. 😕

Update:  I found out that Steam only works through Origin and not the EA App. Also, I found out that if you need to repair your game in Steam, then you need to  right-click on the game icon and select Properties > Local files > Manage the integrity of the game files.🙂

Also, I did run across this thread that might be related to your problem: Solved: [June 3rd] - Unable to reinstall game after update - Answer HQ
If this sounds like your problem, click the Me Too button at the bottom of the first post. Doing so helps EA know how prevalent this problem is!🤨  You can also add your own reply to tell of your experiences! 😇

If you manage to repair your game using what I found out, please update us! 😇

    Best of luck! 🍀
