Re: Mod Help

Yeah, what @SheriGR said. You need to delete that file constantly while doing a 50/50.

I would honestly delete any .cache file in a fit of “what do you mean you think it’s still there???”

Also, I have a friend who thought she could remove things by nesting them deeper because all modders make a big deal of “can only read it one layer deep” but that’s just script files. It can read your .package files all the way down.

Also if you copied over your resource.cfg from Mac or if it has weird file permissions or got corrupted that could also cause issues…

Twisted Mexi has a mod named Better Exceptions that might help you. It doesn’t replace 50/50 but can point you in the right direction.

@baybayb51200 If you just re-downloaded the game and are starting with your Mods out, use the new Resource.cfg that the game made with the new install, not your old one, in case anything was funky in it. If you already added the one from your old Mods folder, just close the game, move the whole Mods folder to your desktop, and re-open the game. The game will have re-created a new Mods folder for you that has a fresh Resource.cfg file in it. Use that one.

  • Thank you, yes i moved all the mods to my desktop and wiped out my external drive and will start from scratch when it downloads.

@baybayb51200 I was chatting with a friend about this, and she suggested that you transfer the Mods folder from the Mac again and zip it before transferring it, then proceed from there (thanks, @puzzlezaddict). Plus, when you re-add the folders, re-add them one at a time and check to make sure you don't have duplicates. Also, I would still recommend that you use a new Resource.cfg file in the Mods folder, as I mentioned in the other comment, and remember to delete the localthumbcache.package file in the manner described in-between each Mod/CC that you re-add.

    Spoiler
To zip and unzip the folder...
    1. Find the Mods folder on your Mac
    2. Press and hold or right-click on the folder
    3. Select "Compressed (zipped) folder

Now move this compressed folder to your PC.
On PC you unzip the compressed folder as follows:
    • To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Hi @baybayb51200 Just to add to the other things suggested so far, do you have anything like OneDrive set up? If so, make sure you have it NOT syncing Documents > Electronic Arts.

Okay. So, let's try this. We're going to do a folder refresh and then a fresh install of MC Command Center, and then start from there.

    For the folder refresh:

    1. Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder out of Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
    2. Launch Sims 4.
    3. Go into Options > Other to permit script mods and CC.
    4. Exit Sims 4

Next download a fresh install of MC Command Center from its website. Make a folder inside Document > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods called Deaderpool or MCCC (whichever is easiest for you) and add all the files from the MCCC Zip into there. Now launch The Sims 4 to see if it tells you that you have MCCC installed. You can start a test save now, and make sure you can access MCCC from a computer in a house.

If that's working as it should, we can start installing fresh copied of some common mods that other mods rely on, then batches of your older custom content. But I will warn you that with the quantity you had previously, there's a good chance that it did include outdated mods, duplicates, etc. For some gameplay mods, it might be best just to get fresh copies. But we'll get there. First let's make sure your basic setup is fresh and can see MCCC.
