Re: [Mod Related] Game doesn't save/Time reset on transition/(Part) Progress lost

While it's great that people get their games working by reinstalling, removing various mods etc, I feel this thread may give new visitors the idea that the bug is fixable by the player. As someone who has had this problem since updating and have been reading this thread for a week now, these are, as far as I can tell, the facts:

1. The bug is unpredictable. It is entirely possible to play for a long while, save multiple times successfully, with the bug still being present. That has happened to me and many others. But eventually, the game still resets, unless you just happen to be very lucky. Thus, the fact that your game currently works does not mean that whatever you did fixed it. I wish it did.
2. Mods can trigger the symptoms of the bug more frequently but it is, unless players are lying, present in both console and unmodded games.
3. The fix for the Mod That Must Not Be Named is an attempt at making that specific mod work around the data points that appear compromised, not an attempt to fix the bug in itself. Only the devs can fix the bug. (Or rather, the devs can hopefully fix it. This is an old game that was, apparently, originally developed to be something very different and then hastily modified to resemble older TS games.)
4. The bug seems to be primarily related to outfit data but causes cascading issues.
5. The bug is in the base game but may be made worse by HSY. I'd guess because of Trendi.
6. The players can't fix this bug. At most, we can try to avoid triggering it.
7. The bug most likely affects many more people than visit this thread. Just on Reddit, I've seen multiple people either describe the save issues or other problems that seem strongly related to this. It's entirely possible that many players who are not specifically trying advance through, for example, high school or just play more 'relaxed' games where they mostly stay on one lot, might not even notice that the days reset but only that weird things are happening to relationships and skills.
8. This bug is most likely connected to a bunch of other symptoms like settings not saving, unclaimed babies and inexplicable routing/teleporting by sims.

In short, this appears to be a very serious issue that the devs must fix. And, considering its symptoms suggest serious problems with data handling, it may take a long time, though I certainly hope it doesn't.

@Anucass Is it working for you? I updated the mod but it's not working because it keeps saying one of the files is missing even though it's in my mod folder. 

My save of 3 years is definitely a no go. First, it was resetting to the same day and time.Now I cannot save at all. I am getting that same error code mentioned in this thread (will attach photo).  I started a new save without mods to see what would happen. Traveled one time and now I can't save. This is a mess, EA. The patch after HSY, my game was fine. The fix to that patch, from August 2 is when I started to have issues.

Everything so far is working okay. But I did do a couple of other things in addition to updating the Unmentionable Mod.  1. I uninstalled HSY  2. When I load my save I remove all the previous saves from my save folder. I'm suspecting that the game is pickling the last save and not the current save.  Example first save was 00001  then next save {most recent} is 00002 . What I do is remove 00001 - Forcing the game to choose 00002.  And so far it's been working.  3. Removed MCCC - because of the age thing {I'm not saying this is the culprit, I'm just doing it as a precaution. Because EA changed the age lengths and MCCC has the original age Length}.  After I save a few more times I will try re-installing HSY and see what happens. Will keep you guys posted.

FYI - I did not make a new save. I'm using the previous save from when I had HSY installed.  Just thought you want to know that.  

Update!  Currently it is 5:45 a.m. in NYC IRL...  I have been up for more than 13 hours testing this game.  So far with-OUT HSY installed and by deleting all previous saves from my save folder and only leaving the most recent save - My game has been working and saving normally.  I have more than 60 mods and over rides installed in my game so it's NOT MODS that are the issue. The only mod I have removed was MCCC. The other mod I wont mention, is still in my game...

Now I am going to do the unthinkable and reinstall HSY into my pc and try testing again with all my mods and the deleting previous saves method. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hi everyone and especially the people from EA if you care enough to read this form but I’ve been doing individual testing with all my mods and cc and testing different combinations of mods and with or without the high school dlc and the game seems to run okay with saving progress when I have a certain turbodriver mod and MCCC and DON’T HAVE the high school years dlc installed so it’s a dlc issue for me 

I think this is a multi issue glitch that just shows up in the same way in game. maybe werewolves and trendi messed with the outfits or something? i have no clue that like a basic no knowledge guess. it really does suck for some people to seemingly have an answer and of others to not

Okay! This problem is definitely buried within HSY... I know that ppl said they have encountered this problem before HSY came out. But I think its the error 532 that they are experiencing. What I'm talking about is the time roll back issue (ground hog day bug).  The only way to avoid this time reset problem is to disable HSY...  I played tested the game mod free and all kinds of bugs happened. Such as no pants showing up in the trendy (thrift-tea shop).  The welcome wagon never came.  Formal dance was not visible on the calendar.  Lag! And when I tried to change the auditorium to Formal Dance the game literally reverted back a day I didn't even have to go back to my household, right in map view I knew it reverted back because the auditorium was still in Career day dress and not what I changed it into.  I tried it twice, each time it was in career dress not letting me change anything.  As much as I want to play HSY, I just cant.  If I want to play sims4 at all, I have to disable HSY.  This is sad, I really want my money back! How do we make EA or whoever know that this is a legit problem that needs to be fixed, or refund people their money???

I saw a mention on Discord that the bug might be triggered by cas.fulleditmode. The connection to outfit data made it seem somewhat plausible so I decided to avoid full edit mode and switch it off in MCCC. So far, I've managed to get through a few days in game, from having just been stuck repeating Monday. Now, I'm not saying this is a fix but it does seem to lower the frequency of the bug. Could also be a total fluke but the cheat is definitely something the devs should look at. I have no clue what the cheat triggers behind the scenes, but I'm thinking it might not be updated for the new data, much as the mods that trigger the bug.

I saw that, too, but when I was experiencing the bug I hadn't - and didn't, whilst trying to figure it out - even entered CAS, let alone use the full edit cheat. However, since removing HSY and having no save issues, I've been able to enter CAS with no issues at all, even using the fulleditmode cheat.

If it's something on the C++ end that's quite likely to be game related, modders can't directly alter that, only stuff around it.

Does anyone know if this has been picked up by EA or acknowledged by any gurus ? It’s really annoying the amount of replies this thread is getting and still no responses, we’ve paid money for a pack/game we can’t play, and i haven’t seen a single response suggesting that this will be looked into. I just want to play sims ☹️ 

Agreed. Seems like all issues are related and we paid for these packs. So crazy.

@AnucassI was having the issue with a family living in Newcrest and teens attending HS in Copperdale, so unfortunately I’m not very optimistic on this being a workaround to continue to play with HSY. Although at the time I do think I still had MCCC installed so maybe it triggered the issue with CAS full-edit mode.

Like others have noted, my game does seem to function properly with HSY disabled.

What's interesting is that I never had an error code or ever was told I couldn't save my game. It continued to save, but every time I loaded the save up, it wasn't what it was supposed to be at all.  Maybe if I played it more, I would eventually get the glitch where I can no longer save the game at all, but I dunno.

This is the response i’ve had from EA Help, did you get something similar ?

“We have received some reports of this but nothing has been escalated yet, I will report this once more and see if we can get the developing team to look into it.

If you need anything else let us know, we will work on this. “

Based on the response i don’t think we should hold our breath for this to be fixed in the next patch ☹️
