Yeah I removed all custom content and mods, uninstalled and reinstalled as suggested by help, but it didn't work. The EA employee on here is being super rude i.e., don't blame the developers, it's your fault, yada yada yada, and not really offering any help. SUPER FUN!
I'm no expert with this, but I would assume if you are trying the same save file after a reinstall and everything, you'll probably have the same issue, as it sounds like the problem is in the save file.
I would save the families to your library or gallery, start a new TS4 folder, freshly repaired game, and bring them from the gallery into a brand new save file. Do not take any files from the old TS4 folder.
That's likely your best bet to keep your progress and fix your issue.
