Ever since the new update, my Sims’ needs panel is all messed up. There is no moodlet for hunger, exhaustion, bladder, and low fun. Instead, my child sim was taken from me because her hunger bar was empty and I wasn’t aware of it. The color of the bar was even green!!

Sounds like you're using an outdated mods. A lot of mods need updating so make sure to remove anything that didn't get updated yet and update the mods that have been.

Since there has been a console report on this, this isn't only mods. Many have had luck with removing mods though so please try that.

This is happening to me too but I deleted every single mod I had. There's only some clothing cc. Still keeps doing it and sils keep dying ☹️
Update! There was one mod I forgot to delete: kawaii stacy slice of life. Once deleted this issue went away. I look on reddit and this was a known issue with the mod.

Since the last update my sims needs bar have gone crazy. They are either always green even when they go down and then suddenly my sim pees herself or die of hunger, or they remain yellow like they need to pee and they use the toilet and the bar goes up and remains yellow, resulting in their plumbob to always be yellow or red
I fed my child mermaid six bowls of yogurt before toilet and bath to sleep. However during the night she 'was taken away because of issues'. The bars for food and sleep are permanently yellow even when maxed out, when empty the bars turn green. I tried a restart which sometimes fixes the issue, not this time though. No food, whether brought from a store or taken from a party table or even from the chill box fills the bar properly any more.
She has a sister who is not a mermaid and all her bars are normal and stay solid overnight. It started after I completed my mermaids aspiration (whiz kid).
Mermaids are sims 4 marmite in this game. Personally I quite like them, dull gameplay wise though. x)
I do play with some CC content, but it's mostly static cosmetic objects and a little clothes;

Are both excellent mods that should be melded into game already!
Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Get a sim to the yellow state on any need and then fill up that need.
What happens when the bug occurs? Every single time one of my sims gets to the yellow state in any need. When I fill it up, the bar stays yellow as well as their plumbob. It's not the most breaking thing ever but it's just very annoying and makes me constantly check everyone's needs.
What do you expect to see? When their bar is full for a need it will turn green.

this happens to me too and the bars are the wrong color
kawaii stacy slice of life homepage does not exist any more. I think this might be the culprit. Mod removed!
Nah..I've tried to remove the SOL mod. but there's not solved the need bar problem. Does EA know this problem and will they solved it?

I have a feeling that this is a mod issue. Something conflicting with high school years I assume. This was no big deal to me until my sim dropped dead because she starved to death. Her bar was at zero but her hunger bar was green so she didn't get food (even though there's food in the house) nor did she get an uncomfortable moodlet. And some of my sims fun and hunger bar is full but they're showing as yellow. So now my sims are dropping dead, constantly pissing, and also on the computer all the time but that's nothing new. Does anybody know what's causing this and how to fix it? Just had to exit without saving after playing for about 5 hours without saving cause of her death
I don't have High School Years or Slice of Life and I am having this same issue where my childs bladder is staying Yellow even after using the bathroom and the bar is full.
I do not own high school years yet I get the same thing on only mermaids, so it can't be that.
yes i had the exact problem. Sims are dying of starvation but the bar wasn't even red it was green.
I dont have slice of life and it's happening to me too.
If you have MC Command Centre you can revive the sims, thank god for that.
