Re: [MOD RELATED] Sims all get same name in CAS

This issue appears to be connected to Sims who had custom preferences. (See Solved: CAS infinite loading screen after 23. 07. update - Answer HQ about these.)

Please try the following steps:

  1. Remove all custom preference (likes/dislikes) mods and related mods, including (for now) updated ones, and including those that Zerbu's new mod covers
  2. Remove larger mods that include custom preferences (such as WonderfulWhim, BetterSims, Have Some Personality Please, Paws & Claws)
  3. Delete the localthumbcache file
  4. Back up your Saves folder
  5. Repair the game in the EA App (or do the equivalent fix in Steam, if you're a Steam player).
  6. Restart the game and load up your problem household in CAS
  7. If this works, please let me knkow, and please let me know which preferences-related mods you had, especially if you know which were used on your Sims.

If you're struggling to find all the mods that might be candidates for this, I advise removing any larger mod systems that haven't been cleared for the patch. I don't expect to have time to look at mod lists to help you find candidates.

If you have this issue but have never used mods before, please let me know.

    It was Paws and Claws I believe. I repaired my game and now the names are showing up as normal. Thank you <3

    @rockumentary Thank you! That's super helpful, because we know that Paws & Claws was one of the custom-preferences-categories mods that breaks like/dislike randomization!

    A couple more questions: How did you get into CAS? Were you using Zerbu's Custom Preferences Mod?

    The only preference mods I had in my folder were wonderful whims and paws and claws. I didn’t even realize i had paws and claws so when you said that I removed it, repaired my game and it was fixed!

    I opened CAS straight from the menu and while in game I opened it through shift clicking on my sims, and from manage worlds and both worked. 💜

    Oh yes, I had already taken that out a while ago. Paws and claws was the only one left since I didn’t realize I had it. Thank you again!
