Re: [no longer a current issue] many .package mods + cc not loading

After the 3/17/26 update, all custom content (no, not mods) is gone. This is not your typical "did you forget to enable mods" hoopla, this is a intentional break from the EA Team.

I have been playing for years and have dealt with the devastation that comes from being a Modder when a new update comes and my game crashes, but I have never had an issue with custom content. Clothes, hair, shoes: none have ever been affected. How convenient that, the update that introduces in-app purchases of EA "pre-approved" CC, is the one to break all CC for the first time ever.

EA, do you really expect millions of simmers to believe that this break was not intentional? That this was not a well planned out business strategy to force us all to buy into the Moola Market? We are not sims, we do not take the path of least resistance and queue to the next available thing when something is broken.

I think it is about time you stop taking advantage of your following and for once, just fix the **bleep** thing.

I'm dealing with this too! Literally rendering most of my saves unplayable.

What's so frustrating is that when I go to the "Load Save" screen I can literally see my Sims properly rendered with all of their CC, but when I actually load the saves they're all bald and naked. Not only that, but all the text boxes in the notifications bar from my script mods are just blank. I wish I hadn't updated :(

Was it deleted from the mod folder or is there but not loading in the game? Scary bald epidemic. D:

Trying to force us to pay for the custom content others freely share is just pure greed.  Especially blocking access to content we already had. I may be new to the forum but I've been playing Sims since version 2. It was bad enough EA offered nothing to longtime, loyal players when they made the base game free to all.  Or that every update screws something up. This move was the worst of all the crappy moves EA has made over the years.  This is infuriating! Do better.

Well, I am going to give the team until close of business on Friday to fix this as my game and saves are nothing without the mods, if it’s not fixed by then, I will be deleting the entire game from my computer, if they think it’s some sort of marketplace marketing ploy to get me to use their stuff, they are mistaken, it will have the opposite effect, it’s mods that make the Sims 4 somewhat enjoyable, without them it’s an incredibly boring game even with all the packs.

I am officially turning my game onto Offline Mode, indefinitely. Sims isn't worth playing without the support from Mods and CC, so if these idiots can't get their act together then I hope this game crashes, burns, dies. Good job, EA.

Agreed,  This is not a coincidence that all cc is unusable when marketplace is introduced.  The cc content makes the game better. My sims are better and so is their decor and variety of objects with better energy and hunger satisfaction as well as more gardening and cooking choices. and EA hair is blocky and mostly hideous. Leave our cc alone and let us enjoy the game our way with the great mods created by other simmers,

Does that work if you already update? I prefer paying offline because I find the game play scenarios they have added and unwanted notifications to be intrusive.

I agree it does seem very suspicious that mods break when they introduce market place ( There approved mods ). maybe they trying to get rid of all mods except there own through market place. when this is fixed I think I will take my sims into offline mod permanently

I think luthienrising is right. I just received a small update and after updating the game all of my cc and mods are back! Let's hope it stays that way, lol

Apparently it’s fixed now idk yet bc I haven’t updated my game at all but if they really did remove mods i would be officially leaving bc first they ruin the game and now they ruin our mods which is the only thing making the game fun!

Update: I have Sims4 Mod Manager by Gametimedev.  I was able to easily source ANY and all scripts (ones that I missed the first go around doing manually)in one shot.  I moved those from my mods folder into another save folder (for when they are updated I can easily move them back in).  This solved my issue of black screen.  It may not be your issue, but it may also help...so I figured Id post an update.  Not all of my CC is back, but I would say a good 80% is as far as regulary CC.

I’ve just done the update and it does look like most cc is back and working, only problem is the game substituted all my cc with purchased content so now I have to rebuild my house in my current game -_-

I’d like to confirm, by my surprise, the issue has been dealt with.

To that I will say thank you very much.

For me, going offline means my game isn't going to update (at least, prevents any automatic updates that can happen without player intention). I can still play the game, just can't access online features such as the Gallery or whatever nonsense ""event"" they have going
