Re: No wants or fears

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

    I will now try to put back my saves and stuff, and hopefully it will still work.

    I am having the exact same issue, I just reset my game and took everything out like the blog post said. I started a new save and still my sims do not get wants or fears.

    Yes i played as a single sim at first and it shows whims but its like there a missing piece for where the wants and fears would show up. I just went into my game again to double check the setting (everything is turned on like it should be) I also loaded into the goth family and the child had a monster under his bed and didnt get a fear from it. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

    @KiKiiBees i have both whims and wants and fears option in my options menu. Are the whims supposed to be gone?

    hi sorry was at work, but i repaired my game while i was away. the whims in the settings menu have disappeared like they should have and the wants and fears option is there and its clicked but my sims wont get any wants or fears. im so confused at this point. I tried to test it with the goth family and a fire started but no one got the fear.

    Ok, i am still confused cuz i thought they would have all gotten fears from their house being on fire. Hopefully youtube videos will help explain the way the wants and fears work haha. Thank you so much for your help, seriously I appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful rest of you day 🙂

    @KiKiiBees fears don't establish right away. Give it some time. Maybe if it wasn't correctly working before it wasn't triggering.

    You should have two wants and a third from time to time.

    Just play a bit and see how it pans out :D

    @crinrict I'm confused... I backuped my game, renamed it but all o my mods are still in my game. Did I skip a step?
