@nicolethebowl Hello! I've stopped playing with pets for this very reason. Sims are constantly dropping actions to pet the cat. It makes me sad because I love having cats around. There is an open bug report here.
Perhaps you could add your "me too" on the first post and add any comments to the thread if you wish.
