@march162003  Which of the mentioned issues are you seeing?  They all have different workarounds.

For mods or custom content not showing up, please open the folder where the files are, copy the file path in the address bar, above the list of files and folders, and paste that file path into a reply here.

Hi could you help me. I recently added all of my cc and mods on to a flash drive so I can save storage on my laptop. I read that I can just copy all of my mods from my flash drive and paste it back in my regular mods folder when i want to play. I did that and i noticed that it wasn't showing up when i entered the game like it normally would show how all of your mods and script mods would show. So i double checked to make sure I Enabled my mods and script mods but it was already enabled. I unclicked it and clicked it again (both mods and script mods) and i restarted the game, but it still didn't show up. I have repaired my game and everything. Nothing is working and its really annoying because I love playing the sims 4. PLEASE HELP!!

@itsmeryleigh13  Please post a screenshot of the Mods folder where you've added your mods and custom content.  Include the address bar, above the list of files and folders, in the screenshot.

I decided to uninstall my sims game. but ill still post the screenshot. i will also post a link to the folder that has my mods. That's not all the mods i have it just wont show all of them.🙂 My sim game messes up like every 6 months.:/ it started doing different stuff like this since June 2020. and its pretty much different problems each time.

@causeimbrit  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto the desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Confirm that a new save works, and then you can move your existing saves from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.  If you're going to add mods, test those first; you can delete the new Sims 4 folder (before moving over your saves) if you run into another issue.

hi soo my problem is that my computer ased me do you want to allow The Sims 4 access to the document and I was like why should I allow them, so I pressed no since then the mods dont work for me the game works perfectly fine but the mods dont work. I alredy tried to restart the game, restart the computer, remove the mods and install them again and the same with The Sims 4 I also tried the repair thing advice but nothing helped. So I am asking how could I make the mods work again?

Denying Sims 4 access to the Documents directory, which is where the game stores saves (among other things) and where you install mods would absolutely cause this issue.

No i dont have a Mac.

@c2xwmq7y00q8  When you saw the message about allowing Sims 4 access to Documents, where did it come from?  For example, was it from an antivirus, or Windows itself, or some other service you normally use?

im not sure but i think it was from antivirus

@c2xwmq7y00q8  Then you'll need to go into your antivirus settings and allow Sims 4 access to Documents.  Here are examples for Windows Defender's Controlled Folder Access and Avast and AVG:

If you have a different antivirus, you may need to look around a little before you find the relevant setting(s), but you can get an idea from the examples above.  And the program itself likely has an online user manual or other documentation.

I saw on my new PC they force the stupid one drive in Windows 11. It includes your documents folder. Then it gets full. It might not be your problem, but dig in your drive/user/then the real documents folder. See if that one has the mods in it. Both folders look the same so it's very confusing. That, or do check the one drive documents folder. I went into the options to plain disable saving to it, but from all I see, the dumb Windows still tries to.

Hello, I have the same issue. I tried redownloading the sims, I enabled everything for sure, I did both of the things you said (Removed the sims 4 from documents-Electronic arts ; deleted the options. Nothing worked and yes I enabled everything after doing those things, I also tried getting rid of the cc and adding it all one by one (I didn't have much like 6 things) nothing works! It could be a problem with the cc I'm using but is there anything else I can do I spent hours trying to fix this.

Btw I have seasons, cats and dogs expansion packs.

@1322489888  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?  Do you use a third-party antivirus, and if so, which one?  Even if you don't think you do, your computer may have come with one pre-installed, so please check the Task Manager's background processes list for anything that might belong to an antivirus.

@1322489888  Please disable McAfee entirely (temporarily, for the purposes of testing), then do the following, together:

• Move the Mods folder to the desktop and start the game to generate a(nother) new Mods folder
• Using a different browser, download a fresh copy of one cc item that's confirmed compatible with patch 1.96; don't download from TSR or any other sketchy site
• If the file comes as a .zip, right-click and select Extract so that Windows itself is doing the extracting
• Add just that one file to the new Mods folder
