I'm having a similar problem, except my Mods folder isn't creating even from the correct documents location. I've used Mods before fine...but I've done all the things the original poster said he did, plus restarted and created new games. The Mods folder won't spawn, and the old one I copied from a previous folder won't work.
I've spent days trying to fix this. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, checked so many Youtube videos, toggled the CC and Mods/Script option in game but nothing works and now the folder won't even show up.
Before this, I put the Mods in the folder and they wouldn't pop up in game. Please help me.

You appear to be looking on iCloud instead of your local drive. Please look there instead.
- @jpkarlsen Thanks so much! I found the correct source folder and the Mods finally showed up in-game.
Was there a given solution to the above question?
I have downloaded the game to a new computer and the new mods folder did not spawn. I created a new mods fold in the The Sims 4 sub-folder but it still doesn't work, path C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4
@greenims Delete the folder you created. If you've started the game, go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. That's where the user files are, including Mods. More info is in How to Use Mods and CC
I'm having the same problem. I can't find the mods folder anywhere.
Hi @chanteQ-Love98 Here's how to find where your game is looking for the Mods folder: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
If you find "OneDrive" in the file path when you use those instructions, head here to learn how to get your Sims content away from OneDrive: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370 OneDrive and Sims don't get on well with each other at all.
Hey, are you able to help at all please?
so I’ve accidentally deleted the mods folder, so I ended up deleting/uninstalling EA & The Sims 4.
now I’ve reinstalled both, the sims 4 is no longer showing in documents at all, the only way I can find the sims 4 is in:
windows c file
Program files
ea games
the sims 4
BUT it doesn’t show mods anymore also, and it’s not allowing me to move this folder into documents.
how can I get this folder showing back in documents and how do I get mods back?? I am one stressed girl!
@JasmineRenaexx You need to launch the game once to create a new Sims 4 user folder in Documents > Electronic Arts. If you've done so and still don't see the folder, here's how to find it:
https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
Please don't try to move the game's program files anywhere. This will only cause problems, including making the EA App think Sims 4 isn't installed at all.
I also don’t have a mod folder in mine, I’ve been using curseforge and come to think of it I don’t think the mods I’ve downloaded are in game. What should I do? I want to use mods and wanted to download cc from other sites.
@xXGaeFl00idsXx If you haven't deleted the Mods folder since you last played, you have one. Here's how to see where the game is looking for it: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/ If you're on a Mac, you might also need this: https://bluebellflora.com/2021/10/17/using-terminal-to-locate-your-sims-4-files-and-folders/
If you use OneDrive, you'll want to unlink Sims from it. Here's a topic for that: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370
If you're using Curseforge as your mod manager and you set up your game in a way different from the default when you installed it, you need to point Curseforge to where that folder is. There are instructions at the Curseforege site.
- @Dilly105 I have the same problem as Dilly, my issue started when i moved my game to my external hard drive. My mods settings are on but my mods folders missing. I tried repairing my game for like 4 times now. What should i do, please help.
@zeebear03 Here's how to find out where the game is creating your user folder, which is where it's looking for mods: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/ If you need support on how to move your folder and have the game still see it, head to the tech support for Sims 4 on PC or Mac, starting at https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/ct-p/the-sims-4-en
Hi, I've had the same issue with the Mods, Saves and Tray files not showing up in the Sims 4 folder. At first I thought it was because my OneDrive had reset and all my folders for Sims 4 was going there instead. Nope, deleted OneDrive from my computer since I've never used it. Reinstalled Sims 4 and none of the Mods, Saves, Tray files, etc generate. I've played this game since it originally came out and have used Mods for years. I've never had a problem before. Any suggestions or ideas?
@ladyfoxj59 A few questions to get you to the right support (we've moved some of this to Tech areas) with the right information:
- Are you on a Mac or a PC (a non-Mac computer)?
- Do you get an error code or message when you start up? If so, please post the whole error code or message. A screenshot is fine.
So I'm not sure what happened but i tried to change to directory to my mods folder from my C drive to my D drive. first i had to get it from OneDrive and I think(?) i did that but something messed up because my mods did not load in game. i got the directory successfully changed but still my mods did not load. i deleted the game and redownloaded it to my D drive where my mods were located but it still did not work or register the mods. they are all still there but not registering. i deleted that mod folder but it wont create a new mods folder even after i deleted the one with all my files. anyone know what to do from here? all of my saves and stuff is gone so i will have to start completely over
@lalaloopsy1201 You can't just move your mods folder to a different directory. Use this method to find the full file path where the game is looking for the folder: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/ You can get support with managing your game folder locations in tech support: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/ct-p/the-sims-4-technical-issues-en
I do not have a mods folder either, do you ever figure this out? I'm on a mac but really struggling with this issue
@kaytay19x Start the game, then do this to find where your user folder is located: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
You might *also* need this: https://bluebellflora.com/2021/10/17/using-terminal-to-locate-your-sims-4-files-and-folders/My Sims4 folder does not show up in documents.
I have Uninstalled and re-installed the app, launched the game and it doesn't create a new Sims4 folder in documents. When it relaunches, it shows me my saved plays before I uninstalled. Before that my mods folder wouldn't show up, I've tried everything please help
@Daemergo2 Are you on a PC or a Mac? Check also that you're looking in the right place. Here's how to see exactly where the game is actually looking: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
