when my Sims change into another outfit, for example their pyjama, they leave a laundry pile where they were just standing
Hi @Simsala-Amber ! If you provide laundry hampers in the same room, they'll use those instead. Or is this happening in a room with hampers?
If those are definitely not deco hampers and are in the same room, that shouldn't be happening. Do you play with mods or CC? If so, could you please test without? I'm just going to move this over to the Game and Mods Issues for now until we're sure it's a bug. (Sorry about the odd order messages ended up in)

This is because the hamper is full. Time to do laundry.
- @jpkarlsen its not full sadly
- @luthienrising I will try without my mods and cc but I believe it won't solve it

Do the sims have the lazy or slob traits? Sims with those traits will leave their clothes in piles on the floor a lot of the time, even if a hamper is present and not full.
And if you have ever deleted a hamper that had dirty laundry in it, then the game seems to think that the hamper is still there and is full, so all the clothes go on the floor. So, you have to put the hamper back and wash and dry clothes and put them away at least once to get it to stop. If the hamper is empty when you delete it, then it doesn't seem to happen. I've done it several times when I play 8 sim households and get tired of doing laundry. When it happens, it is bad enough when you have washer and dryer. If you are playing with the washtub and clothesline, it can be even worse and will force you to add a washer and dryer to get it to stop because it doesn't seem to recognize the clothes were washed in the washtub. It can be really annoying.
Hope this helps.
