I built a box and only put those windows and the ivy ladder next to them but only the ones on the bottom floor work

The ladder works fine for me. Can you please upload the build you’re describing to the gallery so I can download and test in my game. it is now on the gallery it is called LaSuli lookout and you may have to filter by modded (only wall decals)

The reason it isn't working for you is because you haven't added a floor to where the sim has to get off the ladder. They can't slide from the ladder to the window. The ladder exit is shown in green here:
You will have to edit it slightly to make workable. I did this with the ladder:
then added some decorative trellis to try to blend it in a bit. You can add it above the ladder, the sim will successfully climb up and down the ladder:
This isn't a bug but is working as intended.

I followed your example for placing a surface for the sim to dismount the ladder and that work. What still doesn't work is the window itself. The (not so) EZ escape window only gives the option to lock for a specific sim or to lock. What gives with this window?? The trellis ladder works but the window still does not!
@Bluebellflora Do you have any clue why trellis ladder works for my sim to go up but doesn’t enter the window she goes back down🥺

I think there are certain situations you use the window in but I'm not clear on what they are. My live mode knowledge is pretty sketchy 🙂 I had no problem with a sim going up and through the window. All I had to do is click on the floor inside the room and select go here. The sim went where I told them by climbing the trellis and going through the window. Same with using it to go outside except you click on the ground. There are no options on the window. The only reason that I can think of that would cause your sim to not do that is there is something blocking the path. Things like something placed on the tile under the window in the room.
I did some testing when we first got the pack and had some trouble getting them to do that in some builds. They kept using the doors and stairs but found that if you locked the door to the room with the window, they would then use the trellis and window to enter and exit the room. So, you can try that.

I can't even PLACE the window. I built a super simple "house" to test the solutions that have been mentioned in this thread but nothing works. The window doesn't even work on the bottom floor. And it's clearly not due to the foundation being too high or something, because I tested without a foundation too! Can someone explain what the heck I'm doing wrong?
Yes, I use mods, but I think I've already tested turning them off and that not changing anything...

I had this exact problem so I did some testing.
It is mod related,..or more specifically, build CC related.
The window broke once I put in build-mode CC in, but it still worked when I had no mods and/or only script/gameplay mods.
So if you want to use the window it seems you can't use those types of mods, which is of course still a shame.
@eemiliak There's an older batch fix for CC doors and windows in Sims 4 Studio that might help. It's not related to High School Years, but HSY didn't need updated B/B CC. If the batch fix doesn't help, try a 50-50 on that build-mode CC. There's nothing about almost any of it that should be affecting your HSY window.
