An external HD will be slower than an internal drive so it is no wonder it takes longer to load. You already know that the issue is with your mods/CC so you need to make  up with yourself if you can live with the load time or not.

    Okay, so question, what if I kept my mods on the drive , but my game on my internal system? Because I have a lot of mods, it takes up a lot of space , so I was wondering of that may work.
