Reading save files

Hi, just wondering whether its possible to read a save file (and if so how to do it?)

I'd like to be able to extract all of my Sim ID's quickly to track them for legacies and was thinking through the save file would be the best bet (I ideally don't want to use 'sims.get_sim_id_by_name' on hundreds of sims.

I've tried opening the save in notepad and word but they just become unresponsive while opening.

Any alternatives much appreciated!
