Romantic options have vanished

I have an issue in my current game. Suddenly all romantic options have vanished from my Sim, who recently got into a romantic relationship.  If I click other sims, no romantic category shows up. O...

    Is the sim (target sim) your sim is trying to talk to still a teen?  The romantic options will disappear if the target sim has aged up to young adult and your sim is still a teen.  Teens can only do romantic socials with other teens.  And if you have asked about romantic preferences and the target sim has opposite preferences, most of the romantic socials will not show up either. 

    You could also look at both sims in CAS to check their gender preferences.  And while there, check to see if they have become related somehow.  That does happen sometimes.  Romantic socials won't show up between relatives.

    Ok, seems like this may indeed be the reason at this juncture; after checking my boyfriend is now a young adult and my own character is a teen.

    They were still a teen just recently - both characters started in the same high school as part of the new DLC. 

    This feels somewhat artificially awkward now 😞 as they accepted being my boyfriend just a tad earlier.. but an explanation has been found. Thank you.
