Roof Decorations Change To Non-Design Tool Color

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.83.24.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Luxury Party, Vintage Glamour, Spooky Stuff, Laundry Day, Paranormal, Get To Work, Seasons, Get Famous, Cottage Living, Dine Out, Vampires, Strangerville, Realm Of Magic.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I put the Fox Roof from Cottage Living on the third story roof of my house. Over half of them have shifted color to match the roof instead of the design tool.
What happens when the bug occurs? Over half of them shift color to match the roof instead of the design tool's color.
What do you expect to see? The roof decorations should all be the same color.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Bought Cottage Living and installed it.

As you can see in the picture I've submitted, the roof pieces are two different colors. I clicked on the one roof decoration (see photo) and when clicked, it reverts to the correct color, but when not clicked, darkens like the other dark ones.

If you would be so kind to upload the lot to Gallery and let me know when you have here, I will take a look at your build to see what's going on.  From your screenshot, I think it just may be how the lighting is hitting the pieces.  And if you happened to use MOO to place them and overlapped or placed two sections in the same spot, that can cause it too.

Same for the doors. That is probably a lighting issue too.

On the frieze inside, there is way to get rid of it.  I'm not in my game and I can't remember the specifics atm but give me a bit to get my game going and I will come back with how you get rid of it.

Edit:  To delete a single frieze or belt course section, just hold Shift while you have the hammer tool active and you can get rid of all the frieze that is on inside walls.  Works inside and outside

    Hope this helps.

  • You can see in ( 1 ) that there is an inside door that is shifting colors compared to the other two doors as well.

Also, while I happen to have a screen shot of it... Figures ( 2 ) and ( 3 ) are pointing out that the frieze does not go all the way around. Which is fine, considering I don't want it inside at all... but to have it on the outside is to automatically have it on the inside...? I'm not sure why, though...

@CGrant56 I am not using Moo. Nothing has overlapped. I will try the frieze suggestion though, thanks. Will upload the lot to my gallery shortly.

As I went to upload, ALL of the darkened roof decorations were gone! I have reapplied them, and they are now all the same color.

As for the frieze, all but ONE interior one allowed me to delete it. The ones left over the front door are intentional, but there is one in the corner upstairs near the bathrooms that refuses to budge without taking the exterior with it.

I have it uploaded as Country Cottage Inn. Thanks for the help.

Ok, dled the build.  And as you said, the roof deco objects are all the same color now.  I did cycle through all times of day in build mode and I see no difference between the different items colorwise.  So maybe it was just a one time glitch but I really don't know.  It seems fine now.  I've never had it happen in my game so idk what caused it.

I was able to get rid of that 2 section frieze on the inside over the corner room door.  I deleted the 2 tile section of wall with the door into the room.  That left that bit of frieze and then I was able to delete it.  Then the frieze from the bathroom and the closet showed up inside the corner room and inside both those rooms along the shared wall.  I deleted those and then put the 2 tile wall and door back and repainted.  No frieze inside anymore.  So give that a try and see if it will work for you.

On the door colors, that is just lighting.  Moving some of the fixtures around a little will fix some of that.  I added wall fixtures next to each door which helped a lot.  There is one door though (2nd from the left), that no matter what I did, still looks a little darker than the others.  It's not bad though.

Btw, nice build.  I like it.

    Hope this helps.
